Tweet Sends Woke WaPo Staff into Meltdown Mode

'Editors have made clear to the staff that the tweet was reprehensible... '

(Pamela Cosel, Headline USA) It appears the left-wing media is doing its best to control tweets of its own writers, done on personal pages. What’s next?

The thought police called out a Washington Post reporter, David Weigel, who re-tweeted a sexist joke. One of this female co-workers, Felicia Sonmez, couldn’t handle it and expressed her anger in her own tweet.

Weigel’s retweet of something posted by tweeter Cam Harless was this: “Every girl is bi. You just have to figure out if it’s polar or sexual.” Weigel later apologized for retweeting the remark, posting, “I just removed a retweet of an offensive joke. I apologize and did not mean to cause any harm.”

In response, Sonmez, 31, a WaPo political writer, wrote, “Fantastic to work at a news outlet where retweets like this are allowed.”

Sonmez in 2018 filed a lawsuit against a former Los Angeles Times reporter, Jonathan Kiaman, 31, alleging he groped and sexually assaulted her while they were both working in Beijing. The case was thrown out of court, with DC Superior Court Judge Anthony Epstein issuing a ruling in favor of the newspaper, according to the New York Post.

WaPo communications officer Kris Coratti told Fox News, “Editors have made clear to the staff that the tweet was reprehensible and demanding language or actions like that will not be tolerated,” according to Townhall.

The original tweet had 528 retweets, 115 quote tweets, and 4,347 likes as of Saturday.

Sonmez apparently couldn’t accept the apology, and after management made it clear employees are to treat each other with respect, a co-worker, Jose Del Real, tweeted that she should accept Weigel’s apology versus “rallying the internet to attack him for a mistake he made,” which “doesn’t really solve anything.”

In today’s woke culture, even attempts at making jokes seem to have adults bickering like elementary school children.
