(Jacob Bruns, Headline USA) An unidentified staffer for Sen. Rand Paul, R-Ky., was critically injured Saturday after he was stabbed on the streets of Washington, D.C., Fox News reported.
Paul noted that the sudden attack had taken place in “broad daylight,” in a statement following the incident.
“This past weekend a member of my staff was brutally attacked in broad daylight in Washington, D.C.,” Paul said. “I ask you to join Kelley [Paul’s wife] and me in praying for a speedy and complete recovery, and thanking the first responders, hospital staff, and police for their diligent actions.”
Paul also noted, following the release of a D.C. police report, that a suspect had been taken into custody.
“We are relieved to hear the suspect has been arrested. At this time we would ask for privacy so everyone can focus on healing and recovery,” he added.
The D.C. Metropolitan Police Department posted a news release on Twitter announcing the arrest and noting that the assault had been classified as an “Intent to Kill” offense.
MPD announces an arrest has been made in reference to an Assault with Intent to Kill (Knife) offense that occurred on Saturday, March 25, 2023, in the 1300 blk of H St, NE.
Thank you to all who assisted in making DC safer with this arrest!

“On Saturday, March 25, 2023, as a result of the detectives’ investigation, 42-year-old Glynn Neal, of Southeast, DC, was arrested and charged with Assault with Intent to Kill (Knife),” they wrote.
There has been no word yet as to whether the attack was politically motivated.
In any case, Paul and his family have been the victims of violence on multiple occasions.
In 2017, Paul’s neighbor, Rene Boucher, attacked him while he was mowing his lawn, breaking six ribs, which led to a complicated recover for Paul.
Boucher claimed after being charged hundreds of thousands of dollars and receiving a 30-day federal prison sentence that he attacked Paul not for political reasons, but because Paul left piles of brush around his property.
Again in 2020, Paul and his wife, Kelley, were attacked by a mob of rioters in a decidedly political assault when leaving a speech by President Donald Trump on the White House lawn as part of the Republican National Convention.
“We’ve got Rand Paul trapped!” a rioter yelled as they chased the couple down.
