Psaki Defends ICE Giving Smartphones to Illegals

'We are once again witnessing the mass release of single adult migrants from federal custody... '

(Joshua Paladino, Headline USA) White House press secretary Jen Psaki defended the Biden administration’s decision to issue smart phones to illegal aliens so that Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents “can check in with them,” Breitbart reported.

“I think you, of all people, since you’ve asked me a range of questions on this topic over time, would recognize that we need to take steps to ensure that we know where individuals are and we can track, and we can check in with then,” Psaki said in response to a question from Fox News White House correspondent Peter Doocy.

Fox News National Correspondent Bill Melugin met several illegal aliens who showed him their government-issued smart phones.

Upon arresting and booking illegal aliens, ICE frees them to travel anywhere in the United States on the condition that they remain in contact with an ICE agent.

The Biden administration provided the smartphones, which often costs several hundred dollars to purchase plus $100 a month for service, as part of its “alternative to detention” program, in which most illegal aliens freely enter the United States and never return to their court hearing.

“Our concern is ensuring individuals who irregularly migrate to the United States proceed through our process of being monitored,” Psaki said.

But Melugin said that illegals can easily break free from the tracking program.
