(Joshua Paladino, Headline USA) White House press secretary Jen Psaki defended the Biden administration’s decision to issue smart phones to illegal aliens so that Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents “can check in with them,” Breitbart reported.
“I think you, of all people, since you’ve asked me a range of questions on this topic over time, would recognize that we need to take steps to ensure that we know where individuals are and we can track, and we can check in with then,” Psaki said in response to a question from Fox News White House correspondent Peter Doocy.
Fox News National Correspondent Bill Melugin met several illegal aliens who showed him their government-issued smart phones.
Here is a migrant who had just been released from federal custody in Brownsville showing us one of these phones that the government gave him. He told us that he was told he has to check in with ICE every Wednesday through the phone, and that he was on his way to Miami. @FoxNews https://t.co/mXwMQajhGX pic.twitter.com/mpLnTSAt8K

Upon arresting and booking illegal aliens, ICE frees them to travel anywhere in the United States on the condition that they remain in contact with an ICE agent.
NEW: We are in Brownsville, TX where we are once again witnessing the mass release of single adult migrants from federal custody. This group was dropped off on a bus 2 hours ago and just left a NGO. I’m told several hundred are released here every day, mostly via parole @FoxNews pic.twitter.com/4ZC9MeFoio

The Biden administration provided the smartphones, which often costs several hundred dollars to purchase plus $100 a month for service, as part of its “alternative to detention” program, in which most illegal aliens freely enter the United States and never return to their court hearing.
“Our concern is ensuring individuals who irregularly migrate to the United States proceed through our process of being monitored,” Psaki said.
But Melugin said that illegals can easily break free from the tracking program.
Sources tell me w/ parole releases, the migrants are asked to turn themselves into ICE in a city of their choice. I’m told many of them are given these phones by the government to track them and allow them to communicate w/ ICE, but there’s no way to stop them from being tossed. pic.twitter.com/tAogWloQgy
