POLL: Republican Leading Oregon’s Gubernatorial Race

'Oregonians understand how to make decisions for themselves and their families---they don’t need their state government telling them how to live their life...'

(Jacob Bruns, Headline USA) A shocking new poll shows that Christine Drazan, Oregon’s Republican candidate for governor,  leads Democrat rival Tina Kotek in the traditionally leftist state, Breitbart reported.

The poll was conducted between May 25 and May 27. Researchers at Nelson Research asked 516 probable voters whom they would likely vote for among the state’s three most likely gubernatorial candidates: Drazan, Kotek or independent Betsy Johnson.

The survey found that Drazan—the current minority leader in the state House of Representative—is projected to receive nearly 30% of the vote.

Kotek, a former speaker in the state House, falls in slightly behind, at just over 27%. Johnson, who is also a former Democrat state legislator, is projected to receive just under 20%.

Pundits have speculated that the deep-blue state looks purple at the moment because of the disastrous coronavirus policies that it enacted.

Drazan has gone out of her way to oppose such policies at every turn.

According to her website, Drazan’s opposition to mask and jab policies are at the core of her platform.

“Governor Brown made the wrong decision when she chose a never-ending state of emergency and heavy-handed mandates,” it says. “I opposed her mask and vaccine mandates and repeatedly urged her to repeal them.”

Per Drazan, people ought to be able to decide for themselves how they make decisions regarding the experimental jab.

“Oregonians understand how to make decisions for themselves and their families—they don’t need their state government telling them how to live their life,” she said.

Drazan also opposes violence and rioting encouraged by far-left extremist groups like Black Lives Matter and Antifa. She noted that her support of the law and law-enforcement will result in lower crime.

“Violent crime in Oregon is out of control, especially in Portland, which is experiencing an all-time high in murders,” she said on the website.

“I will support law enforcement, the overwhelming majority of whom do their jobs with courage and distinction, and I will increase funding for our state troopers, she continued. “I will ensure that laws are being enforced fairly.”

Drazan, who is also pro-life and pro-firearm-ownership, has a chance to do what no Republican has done in Oregon in 40 years: win the governorship.
