Democrats Object to Vance’s Bill to Ban Mask Mandates

(J.D. Davidson, The Center Square) Democrats objected Thursday afternoon to unanimous passage of Ohio Republican Sen. J.D. Vance’s proposed legislation that would ban federal mask mandates through the end of 2024.

Without unanimous passage, Vance’s bill must work through Senate committees before possibly being returned to the floor for a vote.

Sen. Ed Markey, D-Mass., objected on the Senate floor, saying the bill is a distraction and misleading and that every health care option should be available to officials at the local level.

“This bill is a red herring. It’s a distraction. It’s misleading and it’s meant to distract what the GOP stands for right now, which is gimmicks,” Markey said. “They will make us less safe because they will be tying the hands of health care professionals.”

Vance said the legislation does not stop anyone from wearing a mask and allows local communities to make their own mask decisions. It would prevent a federal mandate.

“The legislation doesn’t prevent anyone from wearing a mask,” Vance said. “What I would like is for the freedom of a school child to not be thrown out of class because he doesn’t wear a mask. We are about to have some serious respiratory problems. We always do in the fall, and maybe it will be worse this fall and this winter than before. I think that what our children need is for us not to be chicken little about every single little respiratory problem. We cannot repeat the anxiety, the stress and the nonstop panic of the last couple of years.”

On Tuesday, Vance announced the proposed legislation that would stop any federal official, including the president, from implementing a mask mandate through the end of next year.

It would stop mandates for domestic air travel, public transit systems or primary and secondary schools, along with colleges and universities.

It would also stop airlines, transit authorities and educational institutions from refusing to serve anyone not wearing a mask.

Co-sponsors include Sens. John Barrasso, R-Wyoming; Josh Hawley, R-Missouri; Eric Schmitt, R-Missouri; Mike Braun, R-Indiana; Cynthia Lummis, R-Wyoming; Roger Marshall, R-Kansas; Ted Budd, R-North Carolina; Marsha Blackburn, R-Tennessee; and Katie Britt, R-Alabama.

Wisconsin Lawmakers Look to Outlaw Child Sex Dolls

(Benjamin Yount, The Center Square) Wisconsin state Sen. Van Wanggaard spent 30 years in law enforcement and says he never came across anything as “sick” as a child sex doll.

Wanggaard on Tuesday led a Wisconsin Senate committee hearing on a plan to outlaw child sex dolls in the state.

“For $30,000, and it talks to you and everything else, I’m just thinking these people are really sick,” Wanggaard said.

The legislation would make it a crime to have one of the new realistic sex dolls designed to be a child.

“It’s not just what this doll looks like,” Wanggaard said. “I would imagine that there gotta be a set of operating instructions with this thing that talks about it being a minor.”

Wisconsin currently doesn’t have any laws regarding underage sex dolls. Five states – Florida, Tennessee, Kentucky, Utah and Hawaii – are the only states with laws against the dolls.

Wisconsin’s proposed law would mean a felony conviction, and up to three-and-a-half years in prison for a first offense. Anyone who owns a child sex doll that looks like a specific child would be looking at 15 years in prison.

Sen. Lena Taylor, D-Milwaukee, worried about loopholes that suspects could use to skirt the proposed law.

“If someone can say that it’s a dwarf,” Taylor added. “Someone who is smaller, and not a child.”

Sen. Jesse James, R-Altoona, said like in other child pornography cases, there will likely be plenty of evidence to show the doll is a child sex doll.

“When we come across child pornography cases, these aren’t just 10 images and stuff like that. We’re talking thousands of images,” James, who used to be the police chief in Altoona, told lawmakers. “This isn’t something that’s going to be a tiny case.”

Wisconsin law makes it illegal to have sex with a human being under the age of 18. Though there are other state laws that add penalties and prison time for having sex with people at other, underage ages.

Man Accused in Whitmer Kidnap Plot Voted for Whitmer

(Ken Silva, Headline USA) A man accused of helping plot to kidnap Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer revealed Thursday that he actually voted for Whitmer and Attorney General Dana Nessel, both Democrats, in 2018.

The defendant, Eric Molitor, isn’t a central player in the kidnap plot, but prosecutors say he helped militias in their conspiracy—namely, by filming Whitmer’s property during a daytime car ride with an FBI informant on Aug. 29, 2020.

Molitor told jurors Thursday that he became active in the militia movement amidst the riots and lockdowns of 2020. At the time, he said he was worried about groups like Antifa burning down towns nearby his home in Cadillac, Michigan.

Molitor said Whitmer’s name didn’t come up when he was encouraged by the scheme’s leader, Adam Fox, to go to Antrim County to check out a “high-profile vacation house” in August 2020.

On the night of the surveillance car ride, Molitor said he thought he, the FBI informant and another alleged plotter were going to scope a home where Antifa was staying.

“To me, heard Antifa was holing up in hotels and motels,” Molitor said. “I’m assuming this could be a place Antifa’s looking to hole up in.”

Molitor’s testimony lasted most of the day. He is set to be cross-examined by the prosecution on Friday.

The FBI has already been caught doctoring evidence in an attempt to make it look like Molitor knew he was going to surveill Whitmer’s home on the day of the car ride.

The FBI’s doctored evidence is from audio recordings of two separate conversations Molitor had on Aug. 29, 2020, with undercover FBI informant Dan Chappel and Adam Fox, the alleged “ringleader” of the Whitmer kidnap plot who was found guilty of federal crimes last year.

The audio recordings took place the same day Molitor, Chappel and Fox allegedly conducted daytime surveillance of Whitmer’s home in upstate Michigan.

In one clip, Fox and Molitor can be heard joking about blowing up Whitmer’s boat—“Bitch, your boat privileges have been revoked,” Fox is heard saying. In a separate audio clip, Fox describes in more detail an “extraction” plan for Whitmer, to which Molitor is heard replying, “Dude, I’m in.”

During court proceedings last week, Impola testified that the two audio recordings took place within minutes of each other, as Fox, Molitor and Chappel were driving to conduct surveillance on Whitmer’s home. The timing of these two conversations would indicate that Molitor agreed to the Whitmer plot and participated in the surveillance drive knowingly, according to the prosecution.

However, the audio recordings actually took place more than four hours apart, meaning that Molitor didn’t know about Fox’s “plan” to kidnap the governor until after he took the “surveillance” car ride. In other words, Molitor didn’t know what he was participating in when he took that ride with Fox and Chappel, according to Barnett.

The defense attorney pleaded with Judge Hamlyn to toss the case due to the error, but the judge declined.

Molitor’s decision to testify was a rare move: In four trials so far in state and federal courts, only one other defendant has taken the witness stand. He was acquitted.

Fourteen men were arrested just a month before the November 2020 election. Nine have been convicted in state or federal court while two have been acquitted.

Radical ALA President Wants to Use Libraries for ‘Socialist Organizing’

(Ben Sellers, Headline USA) It was Benjamin Franklin, the founder of the nation’s first public library, who emerged from the 1787 Constitutional Convention to alert the new citizens of the United States of America that they had formed “a republic—if you can keep it.”

Sadly, the radical president of the American Library Association is now trying to use its vast network of libraries as the staging ground to overthrow the very republic that the Founding Fathers established, RedState reported.

Instead, Emily Drabinski prefers a more collectivist polity—one that was birthed in the winter of 1848 at the British Library, courtesy of a man by the name of Marx, who was as notorious for his disdain of manual labor as Franklin was renowned for his industry and ingenuity.

Comrade Drabinski—whose controversial views have led several states to sever ties with the national ALA—was a participant at a socialist gathering last week in Chicago, according to author and psychologist Karlyn Borysenko, who reported on the event via her Substack blog.

“While initially slated to be a speaker at Socialism 2023, Drabinski’s session was canceled amid growing concerns about her Marxist ideology,” Borysenko noted.

Nonetheless, she attended the session, which included a “a rousing discussion, including discussing how to smuggle socialist ideas like Critical Race Theory into the classroom even when the law outlaws it,” which Borysenko said is referred to as “fugitive pedagogy.”

During the comment period, Drabinski approached the mic and identified herself as “a librarian” before launching into an alarming rant about the need to use public educational facilities to promote an extremist political revolution.

“I just want to say thank you for bringing up libraries, and classroom libraries, but also school libraries of all kind, public libraries and higher education library who have been under attack in similar ways,” she began, according to Borysenko.

“I think your point that public education needs to be a site of socialist organizing, I think libraries really do, too,” she continued. “I haven’t seen that, working in libraries, but I think there’s a real opportunity here to both connect with what’s happening in public education, what’s happening in libraries, but also we need some help with libraries. We need to be on the agenda of socialist organizing.”

Borysenko said she planned on turning her blog exposé into a series to reveal “what the far left says when they think we’re not listening.

Other leftist education groups, including the American Federation of Teachers and the American Association of School Administrators are among those that have come under fire recently for efforts to surreptitiously push a woke agenda while actively flouting state regulations and parental knowledge.

Emails Linking Biden to Scraping Burisma Probe Among Docs Nat’l Archives Keeping from House GOP

(Mark Pellin, Headline USA) A reportedly damning phone conversation that had then-Vice President Joe Biden haggling with executives from Ukrainian energy company Burisma looking for help to derail a corruption probe into the company’s dealings is tied to a list of documents that the U.S. National Archives and Records Administration is withholding from House Republicans.

The conversation reportedly took place on the same day that Biden approved a set of talking points designed to hobble non-compliant media from pursuing links between Biden’s role as vice president and his influence in helping his son, Hunter, retain a job on the Burisma board, despite having no background in the energy business, according to the Washington Times.

The talking points were included in a 2015 email that Hunter Biden’s business buddy Eric Schwerin sent to the veep’s assistant, Kate Bedingfield, to which she replied, “VP signed off on this.”

The quotes Joe Biden approved as talking points were subsequently fed to the regime-friendly New York Times to help defuse a story about the vice president’s “credibility” in tackling Ukrainian corruption while Hunter was drawing a fat paycheck from Burisma.

“Hunter Biden is a private citizen and a lawyer,” Bedingfield told the paper using the Joe Biden-approve quotes. “The vice president does not endorse any particular company and has no involvement with this company. The vice president has pushed aggressively for years, both publicly with groups like the U.S.-Ukraine Business Forum and privately in meetings with Ukrainian leaders, for Ukraine to make every effort to investigate and prosecute corruption in accordance with the rule of law. It will once again be a key focus during his trip this week.”

The emails with talking points were sent on the same day that Hunter put his vice president father on the phone with Burisma CEO Mykola Zlochevsky, according to sworn testimony that Hunter’s former business partner Devon Archer provided to House investigators.

In response to NARA refusing to provide the emails to House investigators, House Oversight and Accountability Committee Chairman James Comer swatted down assertions that the documents were “personal” as the NARA claimed.

“The Committee has made clear that its investigation involves potential abuse by then-Vice President Biden of his official duties; it cannot be NARA that determines whether certain records ‘do not relate to or have an effect upon’ those duties,” Comer wrote in a Wednesday letter to Archivist of the United States Colleen Shogan.

Among other documents the committee is seeking, the emails between Hunter Biden’s business associate and the vice president’s assistant timed to Joe Biden’s phone conversation with Burisma executives are of particular interest. The documents add extra weight to mounting evidence that refutes Biden’s repeated claims that he was never involved in his son’s shady business dealings.

“Joe Biden never built an ‘absolute wall’ between his family’s business dealings and his official government work,” Comer said. “His office doors were wide open to Hunter Biden’s associates. There is evidence of collusion in the efforts to spin media stories about Burisma’s corruption while Vice President Biden was publicly pushing an anti-corruption agenda in Ukraine.”

Comer continued the argument in his letter to the national archivist, writing that, “Suspiciously, Hunter Biden’s associate had a media statement on Burisma approved by Vice President Biden himself the same day Hunter Biden ‘called D.C.’ for help with the government pressure facing Burisma.”

House Republicans Push to Lower Mayorkas’s Salary to $1

(Headline USA) A group of Republican lawmakers introduced a measure this week that would lower Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas’s salary to $1 over his handling of the border crisis.

Reps. Chip Roy, R-Texas, and Claudia Tenney, R-N.Y., proposed using the Holman rule, which allows lawmakers to cut the salaries of federal officials, in the upcoming House appropriations bill, arguing Mayorkas’s refusal to secure the border should be reflected in his pay.

“Secretary Mayorkas should not be paid hundreds of thousands of tax dollars to continually fail to protect American taxpayers from threats crossing our borders,” Tenney said in a statement. “Thanks to Secretary Mayorkas’s work, or lack thereof, there have been at least 5.8 million illegal crossings of our southern border since Biden took office, turning all our communities into border communities. If the president is refusing to fire him for his dereliction of duty, his salary must reflect his failures.”

Roy also threatened to withhold his support for any appropriations bill that does not address the border crisis and tighten security at the U.S.-Mexico border.

“It’s time to end this border crisis once and for all. The American people have no obligation to keep paying a federal official who refuses to do his job and uphold his oath, and that’s why we should zero out Mayorkas’s salary,” Roy said in a statement. “I’m glad to work with Rep. Tenney in this fight to regain operational control of the border.”

Co-sponsors on the amendment include Reps. Derrick Van Orden, R-Wis.; Jeff Duncan, R-S.C.; Russell Fry, R-S.C.; Scott DesJarlais, R-Tenn.; Bill Posey, R-Fla.; Carol Miller, R-W.Va.; Ryan Zinke, R-Mont.; and Harriet Hageman, R-Wyo.

House Republicans have also floated impeaching Mayorkas but have not yet voted on articles against him.

Initial numbers from U.S. Customs and Border Protection show officials apprehended 182,401 illegal immigrants in August. This year alone, more than 1.7 million illegal immigrants have been detained.

Fetterman Dares Republicans to Impeach Biden: ‘It Would Be A Big Circle Jerk’

(Headline USA) Sen. John Fetterman, D-Pa., encouraged Republicans to impeach President Joe Biden this week, claiming “sometimes you just gotta call their bulls***.”

“Go ahead, do it. I dare you,” Fetterman told reporters when asked about the GOP push for an impeachment inquiry into Biden over allegations of his family’s influence peddling.

“If you can find the votes, go ahead, because you’re going to lose. It’s a loser,” he added, according to the Huffington Post. “It would just be like a big circle jerk on the fringe right … If they’re going to threaten, then let’s see it.”

Fetterman, who was absent from the Senate for at least two months due to “clinical depression,” also took shots at former President Donald Trump, who is seeking the GOP nomination for the 2024 election.

“Your man has what, three or four indictments now? Trump has a mug shot, and he’s been impeached twice,” Fetterman continued. “I’m just tired of a couple of them over there, talking like they’re hard a**es.”

Fetterman, perhaps because of continued cognitive impairment, failed to mention that Trump’s mug shot raised a record of campaign cash and saw his popularity rise in polling. The long-ailing senator, who actively hid his medical conditions from constituents during his midterm campaign, reportedly needed to use special “assistive technology to allow him to hear and respond to questions.”

House Speaker Kevin McCarthy, R-Calif., has floated an impeachment inquiry into Biden if the Biden administration does not cooperate with Republicans’ investigation into his family’s overseas business dealings.

However, some conservatives in the House have said they’re tired of waiting.

“We’ve got to seize the initiative. That means forcing votes on impeachment,” Rep. Matt Gaetz, R-Fla., said this week. “And if stands Speaker McCarthy in our way, he may not have the job long. Let’s hope he works with us, not against us.”

Meanwhile, several Republicans in the Senate have expressed reluctance to pursue an impeachment case.

“I haven’t seen any evidence at this stage to suggest he’s met the constitutional test for impeachment,” Sen. Mitt Romney, R-Utah, said on Wednesday.

Sen. Lisa Murkowski, R-Alaska, agreed: “Don’t we have enough on our plate?,” she said.

Trump White House Official Peter Navarro Convicted of Contempt of Congress

(Headline USA) Peter Navarro, a trade adviser to President Donald Trump, was convicted Thursday of contempt of Congress for refusing to cooperate with then-Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s hand-picked Star Chamber investigation into the Jan. 6, 2021, uprising at the U.S. Capitol.

It marked the latest in a growing list of examples of flagrant abuse in a two-tiered justice system that has systemically absolved Democrats for their egregious criminal conduct while inventing crimes to wage lawfare attacks against their conservative political rivals.

The two cases of contempt of Congress brough forth by the illegitimate Jan. 6 Committee marked the first time in roughly four decades that any such cases had been prosecuted by the Justice Department, despite recent examples including Lois Lerner, Eric Holder and Hillary Clinton, all of whom brazenly disregarded congressional subpoenas during the Obama administration.

Navarro was the second Trump aide to face contempt of Congress charges after former White House adviser Steve Bannon. Bannon was convicted of two counts and was sentenced to four months behind bars, though he has been free pending appeal.

Judge Amit Mehta scheduled Navarro’s sentencing for Jan. 12. He was convicted in Washington’s federal courthouse of two misdemeanor counts of contempt of Congress, both punishable by up to a year behind bars.

Defense attorney Stanley Woodward moved for a mistrial, saying that the jurors had taken an outdoor break near where protesters and media regularly gather outside the courthouse and came back with a verdict shortly after. Mehta did not immediately rule, but said he would consider written arguments on the issue.

Prosecutors said Navarro acted as if he were “above the law” when he defied a subpoena for documents and a deposition from the House Jan. 6 committee.

A defense attorney argued Navarro didn’t purposely ignore the House Jan. 6 Committee. Navarro instead told staffers to contact Trump about what might be protected by executive privilege, something that didn’t happen, Woodward argued.

At the time, Trump was challenging the House’s right to issue sweeping subpoenas, although the case later failed, with corrupt, socialist D.C. Judge Tanya Chutkan opining from the bench that “Presidents are not kings.”

Although Chutkan’s November 2021 decree paved the way for the lawfare attack on Bannon and Navarro, Woodward nonetheless argued that prosecutors hadn’t proven that Navarro acted “willfully” or only out of loyalty to Trump.

“Do we know that his failure to comply beyond reasonable doubt wasn’t the result of accident, inadvertence or mistake?” he said.

Prosecutors countered that Navarro should have handed over what material he could and flagged any questions or documents believed to be protected under executive privilege. They said much of the material the committee sought was already publicly available.

“Peter Navarro made a choice. He chose not abide by the congressional subpoena,” prosecutor Elizabeth Aloi said. “The defendant chose allegiance to former President Donald Trump over compliance to the subpoena.”

Trump currently faces a federal indictment in Washington, D.C., and a state indictment in Georgia over his efforts to challenge the highly disputed 2020 election outcome. He has denied wrongdoing and has said he was acting within the law.

The House Jan. 6 committee finished its work in January, after a final report that said Trump criminally engaged in a “multi-part conspiracy” to overturn the lawful results of the 2020 election and failed to act to stop a mob of his supporters from attacking the Capitol.

More than 1,000 other political dissidents have been charged, most of them convicted of crimes such as parading in a restricted zone and given draconian sentences by far-left idealogues including Chutkan. Trump and several other Republican candidates have pledged to pardon them if elected president in the 2024 race.

MAGA-Like NYC Mayor Warns Open Borders Will ‘Destroy’ Big Apple

(Jacob Bruns, Headline USA) New York City Mayor Eric Adams offered one of his most candid and dire assessments yet of the havoc that the Biden administration’s open-border policy was wreaking on the nation’s biggest city, prompting fellow Democrats to lash out in righteous indignation.

Doubling down on his previous criticisms, the mayor—who campaigned on a tough-on-crime platform only to be hamstrung by the massive influx of transient non-citizens—went on a tear, noting that New York cannot survive if the current border crisis continues , the New York Post reported.

“I’m gonna tell you something, New Yorkers, never in my life have I had a problem that I didn’t see an ending to,” Adams said Wednesday at a town-hall event.

“I don’t see an ending to this,” he continued. “This issue will destroy New York City. Destroy New York City.”

According to the embattled mayor, the Biden administration has both caused the problem  and refused to help smaller political entities resolve the crisis.

“Month after month I stood up and said this is gonna come to a neighborhood near you,” Adams said. “Well, we’re here, we’re getting no support on this national crisis, and we’re receiving no support.”

For good measure, the Democrat mayor was sure to take a few shots at those on the Right, calling Texas Gov. Greg Abbott a “madman” for busing illegal immigrants to his “sanctuary city”—despite the fact that Adams, himself, has hypocritically been busing them into neighboring suburban regions that are even less equipped to deal with the problem.

The mayor, who is black, also appeared to lament the fact that there will be too much diversity in the Big Apple.

“Now we’re getting Western Africa, now we’re getting people from all over the globe that made their minds up that they’re gonna come through the southern part of the border and coming into New York City and everyone is saying it’s New York City’s problem,” he said. “Every community in this city is going to be impacted.”

Making matters worse, he reported that the city could be in the hole $12 billion over the next three years if the state and federal governments do not assist.

“The city we knew, we’re about to lose, and we are all in this together, all of us,” he said.

The influx follows a mass exodus of wealthy New Yorkers that occurred during the COVID-19 pandemic, partially due to the oppressive lockdown policies of his predecessor, Bill de Blasio, and then-New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo, as well as the Trump administration’s closure of state and local tax loopholes that allowed wealthy New York residents to write off massive deductions on their federal returns.

Biden DHS Launches Nationwide Initiative to Funnel Jobs to Illegals

(Molly Bruns, Headline USA) The Department of Homeland Security launched a national work program for illegal aliens crossing into the United States seeking jobs as the labor force participation rate of Americans keeps falling.

The program will ensure that illegals become eligible for work permits—and American jobs, by extension, according to Breitbart.

“Hundreds of thousands of email and text notifications have been sent by the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) in English, Spanish, and Haitian Creole, with additional notifications in Ukrainian and Russian planned in the coming days,” the DHS wrote in a press release. “These notifications are the start of a government-wide effort to integrate newly arrived noncitizens into the American workforce.”

USCIS planned to distribute flyers to migrants, informing them of the new process and providing them with instant access to the application via a QR code.

The department said it worked with migrants from Cuba, Haiti, Nicaragua, Venezuela and Ukraine to remind them of their ability to get work permits.

Immigration experts estimate that of the 7 million illegals that have been encountered during the Biden administration, roughly 3 million have been released into the nation’s interior, according to a recent op-ed in the New York Post by Mark Krikorian, executive director of the Center for Immigration Studies.

However, those numbers further fail to account for the more than 1.5 million “gotaways” who were never encountered at the border as of a May estimate from DHS, which likely downplayed its own failure.

Even as inflationary spending has continued to drive up prices on goods and services, a flooded labor market is likely to diminish both job opportunities and wages for American citizens—particularly to unskilled, blue-collar laborers who are already most susceptible to the brutal impacts of the Biden economy.

The open border has likewise created another problem for the Biden administration: a rapid rise in homelessness.

New York City, Boston and other sanctuary cities opened up hotels and paid residents to open up their homes. But they now fear that the unsustainable immigration critis could “destroy them,” as New York City Mayor Eric Adams noted recently.

Similar things are happening in Chicago, where immigrants at one major shelter have been “loitering, engaging in late-night partying, prostitution, littering, and even fighting with community members,” according to a Fox News report.

The safety risk goes beyond residents of big cities and into the country’s more rural areas, where fentanyl has become a pressing issue.

Border Patrol officers seized 445 pounds of fentanyl per month in 2020—a number that skyrocketed to 1,175 pounds per month in 2022. On average, 292 Americans die every day from drug overdoses—much of that from fentanyl.
