Secret Service Opens Fire on Carjackers While Protecting Biden’s Granddaughter

Correction: According to updated reports, the Secret Service discharged the weapon outside Naomi Biden’s home in the Georgetown neighborhood, suggesting she does not currently reside at the White House and was not out clubbing at the time. The headline of this piece has been changed accordingly. The text below remains in its original version as several members of Biden’s extended family, including Naomi’s father, were reportedly living at the White House in recent months.

(Headline USA) Democrats’ soft-on-crime policies have made it unsafe for many young people to enjoy a night of barhopping in the nation’s capital.

However, 29-year-old Naomi Biden, the eldest daughter of Hunter Biden, may not only be living rent-free in the West Wing courtesy of U.S. taxpayers, but also enjoying elite protection to ensure she is not the victim of crimes committed by her scofflaw father’s D.C. drug-dealer friends.

Secret Service agents protecting President Joe Biden’s granddaughter opened fire after three people tried to break into an unmarked Secret Service vehicle in the Georgetown neighborhood late Sunday night, a law enforcement official told the Associated Press.

The agents, assigned to protect Naomi Biden, were out with her when they saw the three people breaking a window of the parked and unoccupied SUV, the official said. The official could not discuss details of the investigation publicly and spoke to the AP on Monday on the condition of anonymity.

One of the agents opened fire, but no one was struck by the gunfire, the Secret Service said in a statement. The three people were seen fleeing in a red car, and the Secret Service said it put out a regional bulletin to Metropolitan Police to be on the lookout for it.

According to the Secret Service’s information page, the agency is required to protect only the immediate families of presidents, making no mention of their adult grandchildren—or children, for that matter.

Despite the fact that Biden has extended protection to members of his own family who are ineligible to receive it, his administration has repeatedly denied the requests of independent presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr., whose own father was assassinated by a Palestinian radical while on the campaign trail in 1968, and who has noted several incidents including a recent attempted break-in at his home.

Washington has seen a significant rise in the number of carjackings and car thefts this year. Police have reported more than 750 carjackings this year and more than 6,000 reports of stolen vehicles in the district.

Rep. Henry Cuellar, D-Texas, was carjacked near the U.S. Capitol last month by three armed assailants, who stole his car but didn’t physically harm him.

Violent crime in Washington has also been on the rise this year, up more than 40% compared with last year. In February, Rep. Angie Craig, D-Minn., was assaulted in her apartment building, suffering bruises while escaping serious injury.

Ex-Speaker McCarthy Reveals Grudge Against Gaetz, Considers Quitting Congress

(Luis Cornelio, Headline USA) Former House Speaker Kevin McCarthy, R-Calif., opened up on Sunday about his political future in a candid interview with CNN host Manu Raju, shedding light on the internal turmoil within the Republican Party and his considerations for re-election.

During the interview on Inside Politics, McCarthy reflected on his changed role as a rank-and-file lawmaker, stating “It is different. It is a little harder. You want to make other decisions. But unfortunately, eight Republicans worked with all Democrats to disrupt and now we’re in a different situation.”

McCarthy did not hold back in expressing his frustration with fellow Republicans who played a role in his ousting. Specifically, he took aim at Rep. Matt Gaetz, R-Fla., who filed the motion to vacate against him.

“I think it is more personal,” McCarthy said of Gaetz. “If the ethics committee never does anything to Gaetz, then Gaetz was successful in stopping probably should rightfully come to him.”

The former speaker also expressed surprise at the votes of Reps. Nancy Mace, R-S.C., and Tim Burchett, R-Tenn., in favor of his ousting.

“They seemed to have changed during a time they care a lot about press, not about policy. So they seemed to just want the press and the personality,” McCarthy claimed, referring to Mace and Burchett.

McCarthy did not shy away from criticizing his former colleagues, stating that Mace lost the right to be re-elected and asserting that the House would benefit from not having Gaetz as a lawmaker. However, he refused to say whether House Republicans should vote to oust Gaetz, claiming he was leaving it to the House GOP conference.

Even Speaker Emerita Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., was not spared from McCarthy’s critique. He claimed that Pelosi had promised to support him if he faced a motion to vacate the speakership, but he felt let down by her alleged lack of backing.

On the possibility of not running for re-election in 2024, McCarthy revealed that he is still contemplating his decision.

“I got the holidays. I will talk to my family about the ideas of what is going forward, and then I will make a decision.”

Trump Lawyer Alina Habba Signals Mistrial Fight in AG James Lawsuit

(Luis Cornelio, Headline USA) In an interview with Fox News host Maria Bartiromo, Trump defense attorney Alina Habba hinted at a potential mistrial battle in the ongoing civil trial against the Trump Organization led by New York Attorney General Letitia James.

The case, presided over by Manhattan Judge Arthur Engoron, has been making waves with its revelations and has dominated headlines in recent weeks, with James claiming Trump inflated his finances in a bid to obtain generous and low-interest loans.

During the interview, Bartiromo raised the question of potential bias, pointing to donations that could be perceived as supportive of the Democratic Party. She asked Habba if they were planning to file for a mistrial, to which Habba responded affirmatively, saying, “Yes.”

Pressed on the timing of the mistrial motion, Habba stated, “Very soon.”

Bartiromo suggested that a mistrial could allow them to start the case over, to which Habba explained, “The problem is — with all of these things, such as filing motion for recusal, which we’ve done twice — is this judge has to be the one that decides, ‘Is he going to recuse himself?’ ‘Does he feel that there was a mistrial?’”

Habba said that Engoron serves as the sole decision-maker of the case given that the case is a bench-trial and features no jury.

“We have one judge, and it is the same judge that issued the gag order that has to make those determinations,” she added. “At this point, I don’t have any reason to believe he shouldn’t after what we’ve learned if it is true. But I will tell you that it’s concerning when he is the arbiter and the decision maker of some of these issues.”

Regarding the case itself, Habba argued James’ accusations are weakened by Trump’s assertions that all his business records were handled by attorneys and accounting firms.

“These are sophisticated lenders, Deutsche Bank, major, major establishments, with all kinds of regulations: [Know Your Customer mandates], FEC regulation,” Habba declared, saying that the banks did their due diligence and verified the numbers.

“Nobody got harmed,” she added. “But Ms. James wanted the headline. She campaigned on this — remember? — before she was attorney general. That’s how she got the attorney general role campaigned on Trump so she had to follow through.”

‘Witch Hunt’: Conservative Voices Unite in Favor of Trump’s Call for Televised Trial

(Luis Cornelio, Headline USA) Conservative influencers are rallying on social media to show their support for former President Donald Trump’s call to televise his federal trial on the 2020 election case.

The reactions came after Trump’s legal team, led by attorneys John Lauro and Todd Blanche, filed a motion on Friday in support of media requests to broadcast his federal trial. Federal prosecutors, on the other hand, oppose such a move, citing federal regulations against the broadcasting of trials.

Collin Rugg, co-founder of Trending Politics, took to Twitter to enthusiastically state that the trial should be televised. “Good,” he said of Trump’s request. “Many liberals want the trial to be hidden from the American people, saying the former president just wants to use the trial to ‘paint himself as martyr and the government as a Soviet-style prosecution.’”

Echoing Rugg’s remarks, Rod Blagojevich, the former Illinois governor, criticized the opposition to televised proceedings.

“Dem prosecutor & Dem judge don’t want the world to see how rigged the trial will be,” he said. “Why not let cameras in? The side that favors back room trials and covers up tapes is the side that perverts justice.”

Political commentator Juanita Broaddrick expressed skepticism, arguing that the federal court would refuse the motion. “Too much exposure of all the key players in this witch hunt.  They will never allow it…. but I hope I’m wrong,” she said.

On Twitter, one user hinted at the potential impact of the televised trial, declaring, “The Apollo 11 Moon Landing was the most-watched U.S. television event in history, drawing nearly 150 million viewers. Trump televised trial will easily be the most-watched U.S. television event.”

The crux of the case centers around the DOJ’s claims that Trump sought to illegally thwart the results of the 2020 presidential election.

News outlets are seeking to have the case broadcasted, citing the public’s interest in the proceedings. Trump’s defense team formally endorsed the request, arguing that the American people must witness what they deemed to be a political persecution of President Joe Biden’s leading opponent ahead of the 2024 presidential election.

“The prosecution wishes to continue this travesty in darkness. President Trump calls for sunlight,” Lauro and Blanche wrote in a five-page motion. “Every person in America, and beyond, should have the opportunity to study this case firsthand and watch as, if there is a trial, President Trump exonerates himself of these baseless and politically motivated charges.”

They added, ““Aware that its charges are meritless, the prosecution has sought to proceed in secret, forcing the nation and the world to rely on biased, secondhand accounts coming from the Biden Administration and its media allies.”

Copy of Hitler’s ‘Mein Kampf’ Found Inside Gazan Child’s Room

(Luis Cornelio, Headline USA) In a startling discovery, Israeli authorities claim to have found an Arabic edition of Adolf Hitler’s infamous book, Mein Kampf, inside the bedroom of a child at a Hamas base.

The book, chronicling Hitler’s descent into anti-Semitism, was reportedly uncovered among the personal effects of an alleged terrorist, according to a statement by the IDF posted on Twitter and reported by the New York Post.

“Hamas embraces the ideology of Hitler, the one responsible for the annihilation of the Jewish people,” the IDF added.

Israeli President Isaac Herzog revealed the disturbing finding in an interview with the BBC. “This is Adolf Hitler’s book, Mein Kampf, translated into Arabic. This is the book that led to the Holocaust and the book that led to World War II,” Herzog said.

Herzog described the scene further, saying, “This book was found a few days ago in northern Gaza. In a child’s room, which became a base used for terrorist activities by the terrorist organization Hamas. The terrorist wrote notes, marked the sections, and studied again and again, the ideology of Adolf Hitler to hate the Jews, to kill the Jews, to burn and slaughter Jews wherever they are. This is the real war we are facing.”

This shocking revelation coincides with the IDF’s advance toward the center of the Gaza Strip in an effort to dismantle the terrorist group.

The military operation was triggered by a Hamas invasion of southern Israel, resulting in the indiscriminate killing of children, women and Israeli civilians.

At least 1,400 individuals, including U.S. citizens, have reportedly lost their lives at the hands of Hamas terrorists, with around 200 individuals remaining in captivity.

WaPo Claims Top Ukrainian Official Coordinated Nord Stream Pipeline Attack

(Luis Cornelio, Headline USA) A recent Washington Post report has exposed a former high-ranking Ukrainian official as the coordinator behind the explosions that rocked both the Nord Stream 1 and Nord Stream 2 natural gas pipelines.

The report, drawing on sources from Ukrainian and European officials, refutes earlier speculations that had blamed Russia for the devastating attack, which triggered a series of criminal investigations and raised alarm bells in the U.S. and Europe.

The alleged coordinator, Roman Chervinsky, a 48-year-old colonel with deep ties to Ukrainian intelligence services, is said to have “played a central role in the bombing.”

The report suggests that Chervinsky oversaw logistics and provided support to a six-person group, which utilized fake IDs to rent a sailboat and employed deep diving equipment to plant explosives on the pipelines.

Further implicating the Ukrainian government, the Post asserted that Chervinsky did not act independently but was following orders from senior Ukrainian officials, all of whom answered to Gen. Valery Zaluzhny, the highest-ranking military official in Ukraine.

Chervinsky vehemently denied his involvement, dismissing the accusations as Russian propaganda. “All speculations about my involvement in the attack on Nord Stream are being spread by Russian propaganda without any basis,” he declared in his defense.

The report’s findings shift the focus of blame from Russia and even the U.S. to Ukraine, challenging the narrative that had gained traction in the wake of the pipeline explosions.

Shortly after the blast, National Security Council spokesperson John Kirby refuted the allegations that the U.S. played a role in the blast.

“It’s a completely false story. There is no truth to it, Shannon,” Kirby said during a February interview with Fox News. “Not a shred of it. It is not true. The United States, and no proxies of the United States, had anything to do with that, nothing.”

The Post detailed Ukraine’s history of launching “daring and secretive” operations against Russia, but an attack on the Nord Stream pipelines marked a significant escalation. The pipelines served a crucial role in supplying energy to millions of Europeans, the report added.

The motivation behind the attack is speculated to be Ukraine’s longstanding concerns that Nord Stream would enable Russia to circumvent Ukrainian pipelines, thereby depriving Kyiv of substantial transit revenue.

Trump, Tucker, Kid Rock, Joe Rogan Among MAGA Heavyweights at UFC Fight

(Kevin Whiteley, HeadlineUSA) While Donald Trump has been largely absent from participating in ongoing debates with other, 2024 candidates, he joined roughly 20,000 people at Saturday night’s Ultimate Fighting Championship 295 at Madison Square Gardens.

A recent controversy over the league’s decision to partner with Bud Light did not appear to have kept UFC from asserting its spot as the official sport of MAGA, with a number of conservative luminaries in attendance alongside the former president.

Among those in Trump’s entourage were his son Donald Trump Jr., former Fox News host Tucker Carlson, musician Kid Rock and, of course, UFC President Dana White.

Carlson being in the mix further foreshadowed the possibility of a vice presidential nod, as  Trump alluded to during a recent interview on the Clay Travis & Buck Sexton Show.

Conservative pundit Benny Johnson had received 7.4K likes and roughly 273K views as of Sunday afternoon for a tweet captioned, “Watch this video. What do you see? All [I] see is Tucker as VP.”

Don Jr. also set tongues wagging on Friday with a possible preview of Trump’s selections for press secretary and attorney general, although nothing has yet been confirmed.

As the gentlemen entered the arena to Kid Rock’s “American Badass,” Trump was welcomed by the majority of spectators, , who were there to see Czechian Fighter Jiří Procházka battle Brazilian Alex Pereira for the light heavyweight title.

Even Joe Rogan, who was spotted among the crowd, took a moment to speak with Carlson.

However, two people appeared less than excited upon seeing the 2024 hopeful—stand-up comedian Bill Burr and his wife, actress Nia Renee Hill. (She even gave Trump the bird.)

The former—and possibly future—president let neither them nor other hecklers detract from his reported love for boxing and mixed martial arts, according to New York Post.

The UFC event will probably only boost Donald Trump’s current polling, which has him at favorable odds against incumbent President Joe Biden.

He even beats Biden in a general election, according to the poll averages from RealClear Politics.

It’s too early to speculate whether a Trump-Carlson dream ticket becomes reality, but it’s probably safe to say infinitely many would go all in on the duo.

Abbott Signs Bill Banning Private Employer COVID-19 Vaccine Mandates

(Bethany Blankley, The Center Square) – Texas Gov. Greg Abbott on Friday signed SB 7, which bans private employers from mandating a COVID-19 vaccine as a condition of employment.

The new law bans private employers from adopting or enforcing a COVID-19 mandate “requiring an employee, contractor, applicant for employment, or applicant for a contract position to be vaccinated against COVID-19 as a condition of employment or a contract position.”

It authorizes employees to file complaints about alleged employer violations with the Texas Workforce Commission and imposes a $50,000 fine per violation. It also stipulates that the attorney general may sue violators and provide injunctive relief against them.

“It’s long past time to put COVID behind us and restore individual freedom to all Texans,” Abbott said when he signed the bill into law.

State Sen. Mays Middleton, R-Galveston, the bill’s sponsor, said, “This is the most comprehensive ban on COVID vaccine mandates in the nation. It’s five times stronger than Florida’s bill, which is the next strongest. It covers prospective contractors and prospective employees,” and includes an amendment to protect medical students, fellows and interns.

State Rep. Jeff Leach, R-Plano, who carried the bill in the House, says it includes exceptions. “Hospitals can have the ability to not mandate the vaccine, they can do PPE requirements instead. But what the bill is about … is no one, no Texan should lose their job or not be able to get a job because of their decision based on a medical reason of conscience or religion not to get a vaccine. … Our bill is the strongest bill in the nation,” he told Spectrum News 1.

Jackie Schlegal, founder of Texans for Medical Freedom, a major advocate for the bill, said that while some may argue the law doesn’t go far enough, it’s an important first step to return individual liberties back to Texans. She also said she was contacted by three different nurses who said they were returning to the profession because of SB 7.

Many nurses and medical professionals lost their jobs because of private employer mandates, including at Houston Methodist, which was the first hospital in the country to impose a COVID-19 vaccine mandate.

Roughly 200 employees who were fired for refusing to get the vaccine sued, arguing the requirement violated federal law and the U.S. Constitution. Houston-based attorney Jared Woodfill, who sued Methodist, argued frontline medical professionals who worked during the COVID outbreak were considered heroes. But within a year, they either lost their jobs or faced losing their jobs because they refused to take an experimental drug only approved through Emergency Use Authorization.

“Many of my clients actually contracted COVID as a result of treating COVID-positive patients, and the thank you that Methodist Hospital gave them,” he told The Center Square, was “a pink slip.”

Within two years, many Texas hospitals and medical facilities were facing shortages because of COVID vaccine mandates.

While federal COVID vaccine mandates largely failed in the courts, the U.S. Supreme Court upheld the health-care worker mandate. It wouldn’t be until May 2023 that President Joe Biden would lift COVID vaccine requirements that had been imposed on federal employees for two years. He would also end the national emergency three years after former President Donald Trump declared it on March 13, 2020.

On March 16, 2020, former Vice President Mike Pence launched a “15 days to slow the spread” campaign, but lockdown policies would continue for over two years, with countless number of Americans losing their jobs.

Conflict over mandates continued for years in Texas with Abbott issuing executive orders about essential and nonessential businesses and workers, mask and vaccine mandates, social distancing and building capacity limits. In October 2021, he banned private employer vaccine mandates via executive order. This was after he banned mask and vaccine mandates in public institutions and entities that received state funding.

The Texas Supreme Court ruled in October 2021 that Texas independent school districts could not impose a COVID vaccine requirement as a condition of employment. And last July, Abbott won a lawsuit in the Fifth Circuit, allowing his ban on school district mask mandates to go in effect.

This year, on July 1, a new law went into effect banning local governments from requiring COVID-related masks, vaccines or business shutdowns. Sen. Brian Birdwell, R-Granbury, filed SB 29, which the legislature passed earlier this year and Abbott signed into law.

Omar Draws Pro-Israel Democrat as an Opponent in Re-Election Bid

(Headline USA) U.S. Rep. Ilhan Omar got a prominent Democratic primary challenger Sunday when former Minneapolis City Council member Don Samuels announced he’ll try once again to unseat her after coming close in 2022.

Omar, a charter member of “the squad” of progressive House Democrats, won reelection twice despite making comments in her first term that were widely criticized for invoking antisemitic tropes and suggesting Jewish Americans have divided loyalties.

Omar — a Somali American and Muslim — has come under renewed fire for condemning the Israeli government’s handling of its war against Hamas.

“Our congresswoman has a predilection to divisiveness and conflict,” Samuels said in an interview with The Associated Press ahead of his official announcement Sunday morning on WCCO Radio.

The Jamaican-born Samuels still maintains that his narrow primary loss in 2022 showed Omar was beatable, and that he could have won if they had competed later in the general election, where Omar won 74% of the vote over a little-known Republican.

Jeremy Slevin, a spokesman for Omar, did not immediately return a phone message left Sunday seeking comment on Samuels’ announcement.

The war in the Middle East has already divided Democrats and upended the dynamics of some House primaries. Omar has been critical of Israel. Her focus has been the plight of civilians in the Gaza Strip.

It remains to be seen how potent an issue the war will be in an overwhelmingly Democratic district that includes Minneapolis and some suburbs. The district also has a large Somali Muslim population. And it includes St. Louis Park, which historically has been a center of Jewish life in Minnesota.

Samuels said he believes the war will be a big concern. He criticized Omar for voting against placing sanctions on Russia over its invasion of Ukraine but supporting sanctions against Israel, and for boycotting Israeli President Isaac Herzog’s speech to Congress in July.

“She has frightened the Jewish community,” Samuels said, adding that the community “understands that there is a latent and lurking antisemitic sentiment that always needs discouragement, and always in times of national crisis raises its ugly head.”

The American Israel Public Affairs Committee has been actively trying to recruit a credible challenger to Omar. That drew pushback from a strong supporter of Israel, House Democratic Leader Hakeem Jeffries, who issued a public show of support for Omar this summer.

A super PAC affiliated with AIPAC spent about $350,000 against Omar in 2022.
