‘Witch Hunt’: Conservative Voices Unite in Favor of Trump’s Call for Televised Trial

'The prosecution wishes to continue this travesty in darkness. President Trump calls for sunlight...'

(Luis CornelioHeadline USA) Conservative influencers are rallying on social media to show their support for former President Donald Trump’s call to televise his federal trial on the 2020 election case.

The reactions came after Trump’s legal team, led by attorneys John Lauro and Todd Blanche, filed a motion on Friday in support of media requests to broadcast his federal trial. Federal prosecutors, on the other hand, oppose such a move, citing federal regulations against the broadcasting of trials.

Collin Rugg, co-founder of Trending Politics, took to Twitter to enthusiastically state that the trial should be televised. “Good,” he said of Trump’s request. “Many liberals want the trial to be hidden from the American people, saying the former president just wants to use the trial to ‘paint himself as martyr and the government as a Soviet-style prosecution.’”

Echoing Rugg’s remarks, Rod Blagojevich, the former Illinois governor, criticized the opposition to televised proceedings.

“Dem prosecutor & Dem judge don’t want the world to see how rigged the trial will be,” he said. “Why not let cameras in? The side that favors back room trials and covers up tapes is the side that perverts justice.”

Political commentator Juanita Broaddrick expressed skepticism, arguing that the federal court would refuse the motion. “Too much exposure of all the key players in this witch hunt.  They will never allow it…. but I hope I’m wrong,” she said.

On Twitter, one user hinted at the potential impact of the televised trial, declaring, “The Apollo 11 Moon Landing was the most-watched U.S. television event in history, drawing nearly 150 million viewers. Trump televised trial will easily be the most-watched U.S. television event.”

The crux of the case centers around the DOJ’s claims that Trump sought to illegally thwart the results of the 2020 presidential election.

News outlets are seeking to have the case broadcasted, citing the public’s interest in the proceedings. Trump’s defense team formally endorsed the request, arguing that the American people must witness what they deemed to be a political persecution of President Joe Biden’s leading opponent ahead of the 2024 presidential election.

“The prosecution wishes to continue this travesty in darkness. President Trump calls for sunlight,” Lauro and Blanche wrote in a five-page motion. “Every person in America, and beyond, should have the opportunity to study this case firsthand and watch as, if there is a trial, President Trump exonerates himself of these baseless and politically motivated charges.”

They added, ““Aware that its charges are meritless, the prosecution has sought to proceed in secret, forcing the nation and the world to rely on biased, secondhand accounts coming from the Biden Administration and its media allies.”
