Feds Bust Gold Scam Run by Fake FBI Agent ‘Jon Stryker’

(Ken Silva, Headline USA) The FBI arrested a man last week who was allegedly involved a scam in which a phony FBI agent named “Jon Stryker” would bilk elderly victims out of their gold.

Ramaraj Ganesan, 39, of California, faces charges of conspiracy to commit mail and wire fraud for his role in the alleged plot.

According to the FBI, an 83-year-old victim contacted agents on May 28 about losing $90,000 in a fraud scheme. The unnamed 83-year-old man had clicked on a pop-up screen that froze his computer. He called the number on the screen, which put him in touch with a man posing as “FBI special agent Jon Stryker.”

“Stryker told Adult Victim 1 that during his investigation, Adult Victim 1 was identified as an individual responsible for a cyber attack that occurred at the FBI Sacramento office, and that he would have to pay reparations for the financial loss of the office or else his assets would be frozen, and he would be arrested,” the FBI said in charging documents.

“Fearing that he would be arrested and also that he would not have any funds to pay for essential food or medical services for him and his wife, Adult Victim 1 followed the instructions given to him by Stryker.”

The victim apparently made three payments to Stryker before realizing he’d been scammed. The FBI and local law enforcement set up a sting for the fourth payment, arresting Ganesan when he went to pick up another $86,000 from the victim.

While searching Ganesan, officers allegedly found 36 ounces of gold bars in his backpack. Ganesan told them the gold bars were from a separate package pick-up that he conducted prior to the pick-up at the 83-year-old’s house.

Ganesan then claimed he was being threatened by someone into participating in the scheme, according to court documents.

As the investigation has developed, investigators said they learned of a similar case in Los Angeles involving FBI impersonators taking payments in the form of gold bars.

In that case, the victim also clicked on a link that caused a pop-up appear on his screen with a phone number. After calling the phone number, the victim was transferred to an individual claiming to be FBI Special Agent Jon Stryker and he was told the same fabricated story involving the FBI Sacramento office as the 83-year-old, according to the FBI.

Ganesan’s story is similar to that of a woman who was arrested in a Florida gold scam last month. Like Ganesan, the woman, Swetaben Patel, told officers that she was simply a courier—in her case, for a man she knew as “King.”

She reportedly told officers that one of her trips was to North Carolina to collect $25,000 from an elderly woman.

Many such cases appear to be popping up around the country.

According to an FBI report released in April, scammers stole more than $3.4 billion from Americans aged 60 and older last year—and those are only the reported incidents. That includes victims losing over $55 million during the last eight months of 2023 to scams involving cash and precious metal couriers.

Idaho’s Department of Finance released a warning about the latest trend on May 16.

“Idahoans should be distrustful of anyone requesting the purchase of physical gold or precious metals for government or business purposes. Physical gold/precious metal scams are conducted by sophisticated illicit actors and organized crime groups, and it is vital for Idahoans to be diligent and take the necessary precautions to protect themselves,” said IDOF Director Patricia Perkins.

House Sanctions of Bibi Arrest Effort Threaten Biden’s Celeb Fundraiser

(Headline USA) The House passed legislation Tuesday that would sanction the so-called International Criminal Court for requesting arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and other Israeli officials.

The globalist organization, the legitimacy of which is not formally recognized by the United States or Israel, has ties to far-left Hollywood actor George Clooney.

His wife, activist Amal Clooney, was part of the British based group that led the ICC’s prosecution effort, prompting the Batman & Robin star to personally lobby the White House out of concern that his wife might face adverse consequences for her actions, the Washington Post reported.

The House’s 247-155 vote amounted to Congress’s first legislative rebuke of the 22-year-old “war crimes court” since its attempt last month to seek arrest warrants for the leaders of Israel and Hamas while also raising public awareness of its own existence.

The ICC’s move was widely denounced in Washington, creating a rare moment of unity on Israel even as partisan divisions over the country’s war with Hamas intensified.

While the House bill was expected to pass Tuesday, it managed to attract only modest Democratic support, despite an outpouring of outrage at the court’s decision, dulling its chances in the Senate.

Biden initially expressed support for the sanctions, but following pressure from Clooney, who is slated to host a major fundraiser next weekend, he refersed his stance and denounced the measure as overreach.

Both the Republican and Democratic leaders of the House Foreign Affairs Committee acknowledged the bill in question was unlikely to become law and left the door open to further negotiation with the White House. They said it would be better for Congress to be united against the Hague-based court.

“We’re always strongest, particularly on this committee, when we speak with one voice as one nation, in this case to the ICC and to the judges,” GOP Rep. Mike McCaul, chair of the Foreign Affairs Committee, said during House debate. “A partisan messaging bill was not my intention here but that is where we are.”

State Department spokesperson Matt Miller reiterated the administration’s opposition to the sanctions bill based on the concerns of how it might adversely affect the Clooneys and, consequently, Biden’s Hollywood fundraising prospects. Former presidents presidents Barack Obama and Bill Clinton, actress Julia Roberts and talk show host Jimmy Kimmel are also expected to appear at the Los Angeles event.

“We have made clear that while we oppose the decision taken by the prosecutor of the ICC, we don’t think it is appropriate, especially while there are ongoing investigations inside Israel looking at somebody’s very same questions,” Miller said. “And we were willing to work with Congress on what a response might look like, but we don’t support sanctions.”

The House bill would apply sweeping economic sanctions and visa restrictions to individuals and judges associated with the ICC, including their family members.

Democrats labeled the approach as “overly broad,” warning it could ensnare Americans and U.S. companies that do important work with the court.

“This bill would have a chilling effect on the ICC as an institution which could hamper the court’s efforts to prosecute the numerous atrocities that have been perpetrated in many places around the world, from Ukraine to Uganda,” said Rep. Gregory Meeks, the top Democrat on the Foreign Affairs Committee.

The legislation reprimanding the ICC was just the latest show of support from House Republicans for Israel since the Oct. 7 attack by Hamas that ignited the war. Republicans have held several votes related to Israel in recent months, highlighting divisions among Democrats over support for the U.S. ally.

Congressional leaders have invited Netanyahu to address a joint meeting of Congress this summer. Many Democrats are expected to boycott the speech.

Both the ICC and the United Nations’s highest court, the International Court of Justice, have begun to investigate allegations that both Israel and Hamas have committed genocide during the seven-month war.

Last month, ICC’s prosecutor, Karim Khan, accused Netanyahu, his defense minister Yoav Gallant, and three Hamas leaders—Yahya Sinwar, Mohammed Deif and Ismail Haniyeh—of war crimes and crimes against humanity in the Gaza Strip and Israel.

Netanyahu and other Israeli leaders condemned the ICC’s move as disgraceful and anti-Semitic. President Joe Biden and members of Congress also lambasted the prosecutor and supported Israel’s right to defend itself.

Israel is not a member of the court, so even if the arrest warrants are issued, Netanyahu and Gallant do not face any immediate risk of prosecution. But the threat of arrest could make it difficult for Israeli leaders to travel abroad.

“Failing to act here in the Congress would make us complicit with the ICC’s illegitimate actions and we must not stay silent,” McCaul said. “We must stand with our allies.”

Gold ETFs Globally Report Inflows for First Time in a Year

(Mike Maharrey, Money Metals News Service) Gold-backed exchange-traded funds (ETFs) reported net inflows of gold for the first time in 12 months in May.

Funds based in Europe and Asia led the way as total gold holdings by ETFs globally rose by 8.2 tons.

ETFs globally now hold 3,087.9 tons of gold.

Assets under management (AUM) by gold-backed ETFs rose to $234 billion, a 2 percent increase. AUM growth was due to a combination of inflows of metal and rising gold prices. It was the highest AUM reported by gold-backed funds globally since April 2022.

European funds reported gold inflows of 5.6 tons. This ended a 12-month streak of declining gold holdings. According to the World Gold Council, inflows were mainly driven by expectations that the European Central Bank would cut rates in early June (which they did), and the demand was primarily reflected in Swiss and German funds.

Asian funds reported their 15 consecutive months of gold inflows, as they have bucked the trend in Europe and North America. This reflects a broader trend of gold moving from West to East. Asian ETFs reported a 5-ton increase in gold holdings.

China has driven Asian ETF demand. According to the WGC, local gold prices rallying to all-time highs and continued yuan weakness were both drivers of gold ETF demand in the country. Japan also reported healthy inflows amid attractive local gold price gains.

North American funds reported outflows of gold after two months of rising gold holdings. North American ETFs reported a 2.3-ton decline in gold holdings in May.

Even with the outflow of metal, the region’s total AUM climbed further to $119 billion thanks to an increasing gold price.

According to the World Gold Council, hawkish Fed minutes from its May meeting weighed on the gold prices, leading to outflows in North American funds. The rallying equity market may also have diverted investor attention away from gold.

Inflows of gold into ETFs can have a significant impact on the global gold market by pushing overall demand higher.

ETFs are a convenient way for investors to play the gold market, but owning ETF shares is not the same as holding physical gold.

A gold ETF is backed by a trust company that holds metal owned and stored by the trust. In most cases, investing in an ETF does not entitle you to any amount of physical gold. You own a share of the ETF, not gold itself.

ETFs are relatively liquid. You can buy or sell an ETF with a couple of mouse clicks. You don’t have to worry about transporting or storing metal. In a nutshell, it allows investors to play the gold market without buying full ounces of metal at the spot price.

Since you are just buying a number in a computer, you can easily trade your ETF shares for another stock or cash whenever you want, even multiple times on the same day. Many speculative investors take advantage of this liquidity.

But while a gold ETF is a convenient way to play the price of gold on the market, you don’t actually possess any gold. You have paper. And you don’t know for sure that the fund has all the gold either, especially when the fund sees inflows. In such a scenario, there have been difficulties or delays in obtaining physical metal.

Vietnamese Investors Rush to Buy Gold

(Mike Maharrey, Money Metals News Service) A little bit is the first step toward a lot. Now, imagine billions of people in Asia buying just a little bit of gold. That seems to be the trend.

We’ve reported on young Chinese investors buying gold beans and gold flying off convenience store shelves in Korea.  Gold demand in India recently surged during an important festival season.

And now we have a gold-buying spree in Vietnam.

Banks reported long lines as customers queued up to take advantage of lower gold prices thanks to a government scheme to push domestic gold prices lower. Vietcombank reported as many as 50 customers lined up at one time.

The State Bank of Vietnam (SBV) sold gold bars directly to four state-owned commercial banks at 78.98 million dong (Vietnam’s currency đ worth around $3,107.00 USD) per tael (37.5 grams). The banks then made the gold bars available to the public for no more than 79.98 million dong.

With this price fix, banks are selling gold for about 1.2 percent lower than market prices.

The bars gold bars being sold are produced by the Saigon Jewelry Company. They are considered Vietnam’s “national” gold bar since the government monopolized their production in 2012.

The State Bank of Vietnam is trying to drive down local gold prices that have soared in recent months. The price of gold in dong terms is up over 11 percent through the first four months of the year and has pushed significantly above the global price.

The SVB claims that “illicit factors” are behind the skyrocketing gold price, but according to Central Banking, an independent analyst cast doubt on that claim, saying the price more likely reflects strong demand for the yellow metal. In April, Bloomberg reported that gold demand had exploded due to a devaluation of the dong.

Gold is a popular investment in Vietnam and the government tightly controls gold imports. According to multiple news reports, the high gold price has exacerbated gold smuggling.

A 20-year-old customer told Vietnam Express that she purchased 1 bar. She said she plans to “keep it for a long time because I think this is a stable price.”

The gold rush in Vietnam reflects a broader trend of strong gold demand in Asia with a movement of gold from the West to the East. Franco-Nevada Corp. Chairman Emeritus Pierre Lassonde said the world needs to wake up to this fact.

“The marginal buyer of gold is no longer the U.S. It’s no longer Europe. It’s China. … China takes up over two-thirds of all the annual production…That’s where the gold price is set.”

Meanwhile, Western investors still haven’t hopped on the bandwagon, despite record gold prices in recent months. Fund managers Leigh Goehring and Adam Rozencwajg noted in their Q1 newsletter that Western investors have lost their influence in the gold market and continued to liquidate gold holdings in the first quarter even as prices rallied.

“Western investors continue to sell their gold while Central Banks and Chinese and Indian retail investors continue to buy aggressively. With gold making record highs, it is clear who is winning.”

$20,730 Per Pound of Food Spent in Failed Gaza Aid Scheme

(Ken Silva, Headline USA) About two weeks ago, the U.S.-built pier to Gaza was broken apart by strong winds and heavy seas just days after it became operational—the latest setback to a Biden administration boondoggle that faces criticism for failing to live up to its $320 million price tag.

The pier had distributed less than 7,000 tons of food before collapsing.

Rep. Matt Gaetz, R-Fla., who’s been monitoring the situation from its beginning, did some number crunching Wednesday on the house floor.

“At a cost of $320 MILLION, we can only use it to deliver 7,000 metric tons of food. This means EACH POUND costs American taxpayers $20,730 dollars! Remember that the next time you think your grocery bills are too high under Joe Biden,” he said on Twitter this week.

Gaetz may have misspoke when he said only 7,000 tons of food can be delivered over three months. Pentagon officials have claimed their goal is to get 1 million pounds of food and other supplies moving through the pier into Gaza every two days.

Meanwhile, the Pentagon is scrambling to get the pier back up and running as soon as possible.

Vice Adm. Brad Cooper, deputy commander of U.S. Central Command, told reporters by phone Friday that the Defense Department has successfully reattached the temporary pier to the Gaza beach.

“We expect to resume delivery of humanitarian assistance from the sea in the coming days,” he said.

The Pentagon has also warned that the pier could lead to the U.S. military being directly involved in the Israel-Hamas conflict. Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin admitted as much during a congressional budget hearing last month.

At the hearing, Gaetz expressed concerns that the 1,000 US troops operating just off the coast of Gaza are prime targets for Hamas. A staging area for the pier has already come under mortar fire, as noted by antiwar.com.

Gaetz then asked if he thinks an attack is likely, and the defense secretary said it’s “possible.”

Austin insisted that there won’t be American boots in Gaza. But Gaetz said he didn’t see the difference of U.S. boots being on Gaza’s physical land and them being on a pier connected to Gaza.

The Pentagon still apparently doesn’t have a firm plan for protecting the pier.

When asked about the matter at the daily Pentagon briefing earlier this month, Air Force Gen. Pat Ryder said that  U.S. Central Command has been working very closely with a number of entities, including USAID, the Israelis, and other partners in the region, on putting together a comprehensive security plan for this temporary pier and the aid distribution routes.

SELLERS: Illegals Marching in NYC Usher in Next Phase of Biden’s Color Revolution

(Ben Sellers, Headline USA) Pieces of the jigsaw puzzle that is the 2024 election heist all began fitting together Friday as illegal immigrants took over New York City’s Times Square to demand the abolishing of Immigration and Customs Enforcement in response to what was already a toothless and symbolic executive order from President Joe Biden.

And so begins the long foretold Cloward–Piven strategy that will not only secure for the radical Left another election cycle, but perhaps a permanent toppling of the capitalist/democratic system via Marxist revolution.

In retrospect, it may seem clear all along that it was the “newcomers” and not the Hamas-indoctrinated college kids who would be the George Floyd rioters of the current season, after having invaded the country to the tune of some 11 million.

The earlier protests were, of course, a test run for Soros-funded organizers to dust off their riot gear and update their four-year-old call lists for when a spontaneous flash-mob is needed, the underlying cause being moot (as many of the terrorist sympathizers demonstrated in on-the-scene interviews).

Once all is said and done, it would not be the least bit surprising if the corrupt Biden administration has not only declared martial law, but granted de-facto citizenship and enfranchisement to all of the foreign interlopers, using the pretext that blanket amnesty will be the only way to placate these paid, well-organized rioters.

However, American citizens may be too distracted dealing with other things to put up a political fight over the issue. Looming on the horizon is the prospect of a new pandemic-level shutdown that is now being advocated by both the World Health Organization and the United Nations over the livestock-borne bird flu. No matter that the one human fatality thus far documented is likely a hoax.

When one’s basic human needs are in question—such as the nation’s food supply, and access to friends and family—things like freedom and civil liberties may suddenly seem trivial.

Meanwhile, the great MAGA champion himself, presumptive GOP nominee Donald Trump, will be in jail, if that is where they want him to be.

Doing so inevitably would result in an uprising of some kind from conservatives, which is the one thing that the Left could not control—although with AI-operated F-35 drones they might contain it fairly well.

A united conservative front actively rallying against them is, nonetheless, a bad look for the illegitimate U.S. administration, particularly if the vast majority of the people sympathize with and support the movement.

Rather, the Trump thread is likely to merge in the near future with the incessant efforts by ethically bankrupt Sens. Dick Durbin, D-Ill., and Sheldon Whitehouse, D-R.I., to discredit the U.S. Supreme Court, which will be forced to intervene in order to prevent the constitutional crisis that results from a local district attorney in a deep-blue city attempting to lock up the leading presidential candidate on spurious federal charges that not even the judge and jury seem to be clear on.

Enter the aforementioned flash-mob rioters to threaten and intimidate the SCOTUS justices, having recently doxxed Samuel Alito by plastering pictures of his home in every leftist media outlet. Nothing is keeping these unhinged, bloodthirsty Bolsheviks from actually following through on “releasing the whirlwind,” to use the euphemism for assassination coined by Sen. Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y.

Such an act, in their warped minds, would be payback for having been deprived of their due when Merrick Garland was prevented from stealing the seat held by the late, great Antonin Scalia; and when Amy Coney Barrett replaced their own icon, Ruth Bader Ginsburg. In a true dose of poetic justice, Garland would be complicit in the foul deed by failing to enforce the federal laws preventing it.

Nonetheless, swapping out a single justice will not deliver them what they desire, which is to own the entire court system, so they will proceed to use whatever public outrage they engineer to push through more court oversight hearings, efforts to pack the court and even to put it under the direct purview of Garland’s Justice Department.

The one saving grace might be the refusal of centrist Sens. Sinema, Manchin, Fetterman, etc., to go along with the ploy. But with brute force as the alternative, what choice will there be?

Suffice it to say, the 11 million extra votes will be just the boost that the eventual Democrat candidate needs to prevail, and at that point, if Trump hasn’t had the good sense to flee, he will have at least three more show trials to look forward to while in Rikers Island.

Don’t think for a moment that, as America slept, leftists haven’t spent the last half century gaming out such a sequence of events and waiting for their moment to come. And they will stop at nothing now that it has arrived.

Infowars Host Agrees to Sell Assets to Pay Sandy Hook Families

(Headline USA) After a weekend in which Infowars host Alex Jones warned that his media company faced an imminent shutdown by the federal government because of his bankruptcy cases, he agreed Thursday to liquidate his assets to pay the monstrous $1.5 billion judgment against him from the dubious Sandy Hook litigation.

Jones’s attorneys reportedly said in a Thursday court filing that he believes “there is no reasonable prospect of a successful reorganization” of his debts.

Both Jones and his company, Free Speech Systems, filed for bankruptcy reorganization after he lost two lawsuits and was ordered to pay $1.5 billion to relatives of victims of the 2012 Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting. They sued Jones for calling the shooting that killed 20 first graders and six educators in Newtown, Connecticut, a hoax, claiming defamation and infliction of emotional distress.

Jones went on his web and radio show over the weekend with “emergency broadcasts” claiming Free Speech Systems, including his Infowars broadcasts, were going to be shut down at any minute by the federal government and bankruptcy system. That did not happen.

At one point, he urged his followers to form a human chain around his studio in Austin, Texas, to protect it.

On Saturday, Jones was defiant, saying “At the end of the day, we’re going to beat these people. I’m not trying to be dramatic here, but it’s been a hard fight. These people hate our children.”

The broadcasts were in response to apparent disputes between Jones, a chief restructuring officer appointed by the bankruptcy court to oversee Jones’ company and another company that supplies the nutritional supplements Jones sells on his shows, according to lawyers in the bankruptcy cases. Jones made disparaging comments about the restructuring officer over the weekend, one of the lawyers said.

Liquidation could mean that Jones would have to sell most of what he owns, including his company and its assets, but could keep his home and other personal belongings that are exempt from bankruptcy liquidation.

Far-Left City Orders Police, Firefighters to Not Pray in Jesus’s Name

(Dmytro “Henry” Aleksandrov, Headline USA) It was reported that a California city had forbidden its volunteer police and fire chaplains to invoke the name of Jesus Christ while praying with police officers and firefighters.

Blaze News reported that Denny Cooper and his son J.C. Cooper have been ministering to residents in the City of Carlsbad, Calif., for many years. Denny is a gym teacher and baseball coach who has been a volunteer chaplain with the city’s fire department for 18 years, while his son is an associate pastor at the Mission Church who has been volunteering as a chaplain for the city’s Police Department for six years.

However, Carlsbad city manager Scott Chadwick expressed his hatred of Christianity by recently telling J.C. and Police Chief Christie Calderwood that referencing the name of Jesus during a public-oriented prayer “was considered harassment, created a hostile work environment and lifted one religion above another,” according to a letter from First Liberty Insitute (FLI), a legal nonprofit dedicated to protecting religious liberties.

The FLI letter claimed that a member of the Carlsbad City Council even complained after J.C. closed his prayer during the Carlsbad Police Department Awards Ceremony in the name of Jesus, even though it wasn’t clear whether Chadwick was the complainant.

Since then Police Chief Calderwood ordered J.C. not to mention Jesus’ name during his prayers with members of the police force.

“[J.C.] could use any other name he wanted as long as it was not ‘Jesus,'” Calderwood said, according to the letter.

Similar instructions were given to chaplain Denny Cooper by Fire Chief Mike Calderwood, adding that the directive came from Chadwick.

“After seeking counsel from his lead pastor and Denny, J.C. told the police chief that removing the name of Jesus from his prayers would be a denial of his Savior Jesus Christ, a violation of his conscience, and a sin,” the letter stated.

Columbia Law Review’s Paper Argues Jews ‘Capitalized’ on Holocaust

(Dmytro “Henry” Aleksandrov, Headline USA) A small group of people edited an anti-Semitic Columbia Law Review article, excluding “a large number of Jewish students” from the process to make sure that the article would not be ripped to shreds for its hateful nature.

While potential articles are typically available for the Law Review‘s roughly 100 members to assess ahead of publication, the “Toward Nakba as a Legal Concept” piece was edited behind closed doors by a small group of approximately 30 far-left student editors, Columbia Law School professor Joshua Mitts told the Washington Free Beacon.

He then added that, while that group edited the piece “over several months,” other editors— including Jews — didn’t even know that the article existed before June 1, 2024, which was just two days before the publication of the piece.

Initially, the piece was supposed to be published on the website of the student-edited Review on June 3, 2024, even though the Review‘s board of directors requested to delay the publication of the article. The board wrote in a letter to student editors that the editing process of the article was the problem and the reason for the request to delay the publication.

Columbia Law Professor Gillian Metzger and Columbia Law School Dean Gillian Lester requested the piece to be “delayed for a few days” to ensure “all student editors would have an opportunity” to read it.

The far-left students pretended to agree with the suggestion. However, when the board found out that the leftists planned to publish the piece immediately behind everybody’s backs, the Review‘s website was “temporarily suspended.”

The reason why the leftist students wanted to edit the article and publish it by themselves became clear when it was discovered that the piece was written by a Jew-hating Harvard University doctoral candidate Rabea Eghbariah, who included a lot of his beliefs in the article.

In one of the footnotes, Eghbariah wrote that Israel “capitalized on the Holocaust to create a powerful narrative that monopolizes victimhood to the state,” adding in another part of the article that the Holocaust created an “ethnonationalist Jewish identity” that turned a “victimized group” into “victimizers.”

“The rise of Nazism to power and its culmination in the Holocaust contributed to the creation of an exclusivist and ethnonationalist Jewish identity among European Jewry, ultimately popularizing the political project of Zionism,” he wrote.

Fire Alarm Forces Hunter Biden, Lawyers to Evacuate Hotel

(Luis Cornelio, Headline USA) Hunter Biden, son of President Joe Biden, and his “sugar brother” Kevin Morris were evacuated from a luxury hotel in Wilmington, Delaware after fire alarms went off Wednesday night, the New York Post reported on Thursday.

Hunter Biden and Morris—currently in Delaware for the first son’s criminal trial over alleged false statements about his crack-cocaine use on a federal gun form—were among the evacuees. Also forced out was Zoe Kestan, Hunter Biden’s former girlfriend, who testified on Wednesday about his drug abuse.

The New York Post noted that Hunter Biden and his wife, Melissa Cohen Biden, were not seen outside during the evacuation. It remains unclear if the Secret Service escorted Biden out, and Morris declined to comment on the matter when pressed for answers by the New York Post.

The evacuation prompted social media speculation about the cause of the alarm, with some users taunting Hunter Biden, suggesting he might have been smoking inside the hotel.

“It was Sugar Brother doing bong rippers,” tweeted Headline USA’s editor-in-chief Ben Sellers. Another user, Matt Beebe, tweeted, “Does smoking crack set off fire alarms?”

Concerns were also raised about why prosecution witnesses, like Kestan, were staying at the same hotel as the defendant, Hunter Biden.

Evacuees were directed through a tunnel to DECO Food Hall as firefighters dealt with smoke coming from the hotel’s kitchen.

“The apparent emergency was over by 10:20 pm and hotel guests returned to their rooms or the hotel bar,” the outlet reported. “The Wilmington Fire Department did not respond to The Post’s request for comment.”

Hunter Biden’s criminal trial involves an investigation into his purchase of a .38 caliber handgun, with a separate trial underway for alleged tax evasion.
