J.J. Watt, NFL player for the Arizona Cardinals, is reported to be paying funeral costs for those killed during the Christmas parade attack in Waukesha, PJ Media reported.
Watt hails from Waukesha, where six people have now died and 50 more were injured as a result when Darrell Brooks drove his SUV through the parade.
“The horrific rampage likely hits close to home for Watt,” PJ Media reported, “who was born in the city of 70,000 and played football just north of town at Pewaukee High School.”
Just now seeing what happened at the holiday parade back home in Waukesha tonight.
Horrific images.
Truly hoping everyone is going to be ok and those not involved are now safe.
Thankful to everyone who rushed to action and helped the wounded.

Watt is a well-known philanthropist, having raised $37 million in hurricane relief for the city of Houston in 2017. According to Sports Illustrated, the funds raised by Watt also built more than 1,100 homes in the Houston area.
“In a sports and media world where selfish narcissists and disingenuous hacks get outsized attention,” PJ Media’s A.J. Kaufman noted, “J.J. Watt remains one of the good guys.”
When the Waukesha crime was committed, Brooks was out on bail. He was allegedly involved in a domestic incident before the rampage began.
Complaint against Darrell Brooks: “The vehicle appeared to rapidly accelerate, as Officer Butryn heard tires squeal. The vehicle took an abrupt left turn into the crowd of parade participants… It was clear…this was an intentional act to strike & hurt as many ppl as possible.” pic.twitter.com/qZNNnoDCZ0

Bail for Brooks’ most recent crime spree was set at $5 million.
Why in the world is he getting bail? https://t.co/H8jMwIvJN6
