New Yorkers Spend $5M Per Day to Nurture Illegals

'As we’ve said for months, it’s clear that we need financial support from federal and state partners as the number of asylum seekers arriving continues to increase... '

(Dmytro “Henry” AleksandrovHeadline USA) Instead of spending money on New Yorkers, the city’s Democrat Mayor Eric Adams and other members of the Communist ilk have decided instead to spend nearly $5 million a day to house and feed thousands of illegal immigrants.

The astronomical bill was revealed when city Emergency Management Commissioner Zach Iscol told a City Council panel that Gotham’s Department of Homeless Services and Health & Hospitals each spend an average of $363 every day to provide food and shelter for just one illegal, according to the New York Post. Since there are more than 30,000 illegals who are currently being housed in New York City’s taxpayer-funded facilities, the total amount would be $10.89 million, the Post noted.

City Hall officially corrected Iscol’s comments. Iscol, however, never even bothered to correct himself.

Mayor Eric Adams’ administration also avoided going on the record for several hours, until a spokeswoman, Kate Smart, finally replied to the Post‘s email by saying that “$364 per household is the per diem for asylum seekers.”

According to City Hall’s background earlier, “there are 12,700 households currently in our care,” which puts the daily migrant cost for the city still at a colossal $4,622,800. New York City has long officially declared itself a sanctuary for illegal aliens.

“The city has spent more than $500 million on asylum seeker needs in this fiscal year, which began July 1, and anticipates spending $4.2 billion across this fiscal year and the next,” Smart also added.

“As we’ve said for months, it’s clear that we need financial support from federal and state partners as the number of asylum seekers arriving continues to increase.”

Despite that the city begged both the Joe Biden and Gov. Kathy Hochul administrations to send money to cover the projected $4.2-billion tab to handle the influx, the Federal Emergency Management Agency only gave a mere $8 million to the city in December, which wouldn’t be enough to cover even two current days.
