Newsom Abandoned Snow-Trapped Calif. for Baja Adventure

'Imagine not having any food in your house after being trapped for 13 days... '

(Headline USA) California Democrat Gov. Gavin Newsom went on a personal vacation to Baja California during devastating winter storms in his state that left many residents without power or food.

The storm forced 13 of California’s counties, including Los Angeles, to declare a state of emergency.

“Imagine not having any food in your house after being trapped for 13 days,” resident Michelle Calkins said, according to a local news outlet.

Newsom briefly visited the Diablo Canyon power plant in Avila Beach during the storm, but then left for Mexico shortly after, Breitbart reported.

“The Governor was on a personal trip in Baja California,” Newsom’s office confirmed in a statement. “He returned to the state on Sunday, meeting with emergency personnel at the State Operations Center and receiving a briefing on current conditions.”

It is not clear where Newsom went during his trip to Baja California, though he has previously vacationed in Cabo San Lucas.

This isn’t the first time Newsom has abandoned his state during times of crises to jet-set around the world. In 2022, Newsom rented a villa in Cabo San Lucas from a Russian oligarch after extending California’s state of emergency for the COVID-19 pandemic. He also famously dined at the ritzy Frend Laundry restaurant in Napa Valley after ordering Californians not to leave their homes in 2020.

Michigan Democrat Gov. Gretchen Whitmer was also caught vacationing recently while her state suffered from a brutal winter storm that left more than 300,000 residents without power. Whitmer reportedly traveled to San Diego, and has not yet accounted for her apparent absence from the state.

Like Newsom, Whitmer also has a habit of sneaking out of the state. In 2021, she traveled to Florida on a private jet for “personal reasons” after demanding that Michiganders not travel because of the COVID-19 pandemic.
