(Tony Sifert, Headline USA) In an address before the terrorist-linked Islamic Circle of North America, Rep. Ilhan Omar, D-Minn., implausibly complained that media bias is responsible for “Islamophobia” in the United States.
In a revealing moment, Omar reserved special indignation for the famously left-wing editors of Wikipedia, as she pointed out that the site is shot through with accounts of Islamic terror, the Daily Caller reported.
“There isn’t a single Wikipedia page that you can open about a Muslim leader, in the U.S. and abroad, where you will not read something so atrocious that you do not want to associate yourself with them,” Omar said.
A perusal of Wikipedia’s entry on the Islamic Circle of North America confirmed Omar’s observation, but perhaps she isn’t making the argument she thinks she’s making.
The Anti-Defamation League, which has repeatedly called out Omar’s anti-Semitism, has accused the Islamic Circle organization “of inviting extremist and anti-Semitic speakers to its conferences that serve as platforms for extremist views,” according to Wikipedia.
The ADL has said that “making insensitive statements toward the Jewish community is not new for Rep. Omar,” and has demanded that the “disturbing pattern of behavior that must end.”
In her speech Omar argued that media bias resulted from the failure of Muslims to allow others to “develop a narrative about who we are.”
Perhaps she was referring to the servile defenses of Omar that have appeared in the pages of the New York Times, the Washington Post, and NBC.
Or to the repeated “fact checks” that purport to have absolved her of the charge of marrying her brother in order to commit immigration fraud.
In her speech, Omar suggested that Muslims should get into “those newsrooms” and start “telling our own story of who we are.”
From the fawning coverage given Omar, one could easily question if that’s not already the case.
