Jack Posobiec, senior editor at Human Events, reported via Twitter that at least two major Kenosha, Wisconsin, government figures involved in the events that form the background of the trial of Kyle Rittenhouse are from the same family.
Posobiec tweets that “the mayor who let Kenosha burn, the DA, and the lead detective in the Kyle Rittenhouse case are all members of the same family. Are you paying attention yet?”

Kevin Mathewson, editor and investigative journalist at the Kenosha County Eye, claimed that Kenosha Mayor John Antaramian “wants Kyle to take the blame and distract us from his failures as our leader,” and that he “has a lot of powerful family members in charge here in Kenosha” that can assist him.
In August of 2020, according to NPR, Mayor Antaramian said that “peaceful protests are not a problem . . . our biggest problem really did come from people coming from outside the area and causing a great deal of damage and destruction.”
Mathewson identifies Benjamin Antaramian, the “lead detective” in the Rittenhouse case, as the mayor’s nephew. According to Cullen McCue at National File, Detective Antaramian was responsible for key decisions in the case, for example, the decision not to record an interview with rioter Gaige Grosskreutz, one of the men shot by Rittenhouse.

Furthermore, as the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reported, “even though police got a search warrant for the contents of Gaige Grosskreutz’s cellphone last September, they never served it.” Grosskreutz is currently suing the city of Kenosha and several local officials for effectively “deputizing a roving militia” during the riots.
Mathewson goes on to claim that “the mayor’s cousin is the Kenosha City Attorney, Ed Antaramian (D). His nephew is the Kenosha City Judge Michael Easton (D). His other nephew is Thaddeus (Tip) McGuire (D), State Representative. His other cousin is Laura Belsky (D) County Board Supervisor.”
