(Tony Sifert, Headline USA) Rep. Matt Gaetz, R-Fla., has introduced legislation that would prevent the Internal Revenue Service from buying ammunition, according to a report from Just the News.

The Disarm the IRS Act would prohibit the IRS from purchasing ammo under any circumstances after the Biden administration’s recent efforts to dramatically expand the tax agency’s oversight and enforcement powers on common citizens has drawn considerable backlash.
“Notwithstanding any other provision of law, the Internal Revenue Service may not acquire (by purchase or otherwise) any ammunition after the date of the enactment of this Act,” said the bill, which was introduced on Friday, July 1.
According to Gaetz, the politicized IRS, which infamously targeted conservative groups during the Obama years, has spent nearly a million dollars on ammunition in 2022 alone.
“Call me old-fashioned, but I thought the heaviest artillery an IRS agent would need would be a calculator,” Gaetz told Fox News’s Jesse Watters. “Certainly it’s troubling that in 2022 alone, the IRS has spent around $725,000 on ammunition.”
Gaetz suggested that President Joe Biden is following in former president Barack Obama’s footsteps by attempting to use executive agencies to disarm Americans, effectively circumventing their constitutional rights.
“So here’s the Biden plan: Disarm Americans, open the border, empty the prisons—but rest assured, they’ll still collect your taxes, and they need $725,000 worth of ammunition, apparently, to get the job done,” Gaez told Waters.
“[T]he Biden regime is doing everything they can to suppress access to ammunition for regular Americans, while with the other hand, they are scooping up all the ammo that they can possibly find,” Gaetz continued.
In an interview with Breitbart News, Gaetz expounded on the administration’s strategy.
“There is concern that this is part of a broader effort to have any entity in the federal government buy up ammo to reduce the amount of ammunition that is in supply, while at the same time, making it harder to produce ammo,” Gaetz told Breitbart.
In early 2016, the Wall Street Journal described the federal government as “a gun show that never adjourns.”
