Fulton DA Derides House Oversight in Snarky Letter to Jim Jordan

'A charitable explanation of your correspondence is that you are ignorant...'

(Luis CornelioHeadline USA) Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis issued a letter to House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jim Jordan, responding to his request for documents related to potential communications with Special Counsel Jack Smith.

Willis’s letter, widely characterized as defiant, shows her unwillingness to tell whether her office collaborated with the DOJ ahead of Fulton County’s indictment of former President Donald Trump.

“A charitable explanation of your correspondence is that you are ignorant of the United States and Georgia Constitutions and codes,” Willis wrote, adding, “A more troubling explanation is that you are abusing your authority as Chairman of the Committee on the Judiciary to attempt to obstruct and interfere with a Georgia criminal prosecution.’

Jordan’s initial letter had cited Congress’s legislative interest in ensuring that local fringed prosecutors do not weaponize their authority to target federal officials, specifically former White House aides.

“We can only conclude from your hostile response to the Committee’s oversight that you are actively and aggressively engaged in such a scheme,” Jordan stated.

Willis, however, adamantly refused to provide the requested documents, framing the request as a political witch hunt against her office. Ironically, her own office has been accused of doing the same to prosecute Trump.

Willis continued, “Indeed, you confessed to this motivation on Mark Levin’s September 10, 2023, show: when discussing one of my office’s active prosecutions, you boasted, ‘We’re trying to get all the answers, but we’re trying to stop this stuff as well.’”

Willis indicted Trump in August 2023 over allegations that the White House, at the behest of the former president, engaged in unlawful efforts to question the validity of some ballots in the 2020 presidential election.

Willis’s actions are seen as part of a larger wave of leftist prosecutors aiming to jail Trump ahead of the 2024 presidential election. The DOJ, through the special counsel’s office, has also indicted Trump on similar federal charges.
