DICK’S Sporting Goods Happy to Assist w/ Abortions, but Not Maternity Leave

(John McCann, Headline USA) In the wake of the Supreme Court’s historic overruling of Roe v. Wade, DICK’S Sporting Goods has announced that it will pay the travel expenses for employees in need of an abortion. The company is offering $4,000 per person.

As reported by Breitbart News, company CEO Lauren Hobart and former chairman Ed Stack released a joint statement conveying the new policy. The statement read, “While we do not know what decision each state will make in response to this ruling, we at DICK’S Sporting Goods are prepared to ensure that all teammates have consistent and safe access to the benefits we provide, regardless of the state in which you live.”

While the two company heads acknowledged that not everybody would agree with the policy, they doubled-down by stating, “We are making this decision so our teammates can access the same health care options regardless of where they live, and choose what is best for them.”

Critics aptly noted how DICK’S was quick to offer free travel help for out-of-state abortions, but did not seem willing to offer paid maternity leave. If the mother chooses life over abortion, where is her $4,000 stipend to help raise the child away from work?

Of course, DICK’S is not the only company taking the “woke” approach to the SCOTUS ruling. Disney, a company which banks on children’s entertainment, has also vowed to assist their employees with paid abortion travel. Other companies listed include, Comcast, Netflix, Paramount, Warner Bros., and Discovery. None of these companies have pledged to any form of maternity leave balance out their new policies.

This is not the first time the bosses of DICK’S Sporting Goods have waded into a hot-button issue. Hobart was one of 250 CEOs who signed onto a letter pleading the Senate to enact stricter gun control legislation.

These strong stances on the abortion issue by these companies/CEOs are inevitably going to make people question the company’s priorities. Why are they so willing to aid in the termination of life, but have no interest in helping to foster life?
