Devine: Biden May Pardon Hunter Amid Charges, Planting Seeds for Public Sympathy

'He's setting up, framing this sympathy card so that when it comes time, perhaps in his lame duck period, that he will pardon Hunter...'

(Luis CornelioHeadline USA) Conservative author Miranda Devine is accusing President Joe Biden of seeking national sympathy as a plot to issue a presidential pardon to his son, Hunter Biden, who is under federal investigation over several alleged tax and gun violations.

Devine referred to a softball interview with MSNBC’s Stephanie Ruhle in which a defensive Biden torched the idea that the first son might have committed crimes.

“That mythology of Joe Biden that’s been around for more than four decades, which is that he’s a lovely family man […] moderate Democrat, lunch pail Joe, working-class Joe, the poorest man in Congress, and a wonderful family man full of empathy because of the tragedies in his own life—that’s what he’s playing on,” Devine said Sunday on an appearance with Fox News’ Fox & Friends Weekend.

“I think the end game is that he’s setting up […] framing this sympathy card so that when it comes time, perhaps in his lame duck period, that he will pardon Hunter and Americans will forgive him because they will say, ‘Well, Hunter was a drug addict and Joe just loves his family, and he’s been through enough tragedy in his life,” the author continued. “Leave him alone.”

Biden, who went on the defensive when asked about his abysmal approval numbers and the debt ceiling negotiations during a Friday interview, claimed he trusted his son.

“First of all, my son’s done nothing wrong,” Biden claimed. “I trust him, I have faith in him, and it impacts my presidency by making me feel proud of him.”

Devine said Biden’s answer about the criminal investigation into his son was rehearsed

“It’s obviously rehearsed, and the plan for Joe Biden is to just remove himself entirely from the influence peddling operation that he was involved in with his son Hunter and his brother Jim, pretend that it has nothing to do with him, and that Hunter is just being persecuted in a political witch hunt,” Devine said.

The Biden family is under heavy scrutiny from House Republicans over alleged shady foreign business dealings., with House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer, R-Ky., planning on releasing evidence Wednesday of an alleged “pay for play” scheme involving then-Vice President Biden.

Late last month, Comer said that over a dozen Biden relatives are implicated in foreign business schemes, adding that had federal investigators done their jobs in prosecuting potential crimes, “there’s not going to be anybody left for a Christmas picture.”

Both Devine’s and Comer’s comments on the Biden family came days before reports that Devon Archer, a former Hunter Biden business associate and long family friend, appeared before a three-judge panel in the federal courts to appeal his prison sentence for defrauding a Native American tribe.

Devon served as co-founder of Hunter’s defunct investment firm Rosemont Seneca Partners and was convicted in 2018 on fraud charges.
