Biden Gets Defensive on Hunter, Poll Slump in Softball Interview

'My son’s done nothing wrong. I trust him, I have faith in him...'

(Luis CornelioHeadline USA) In a soft-ball Friday interview with MSNBC’s Stephanie Ruhle, President Joe Biden went on the defensive when asked about his scathing low polls, the criminal investigations into Hunter Biden and debt ceiling negotiations with House Speaker Kevin McCarthy, R-Calif.

The far-left host asked the president if McCarthy was an honest broker amid negotiations about the debt ceiling. Biden responded by calling McCarthy an honest individual but accusing him of selling “away everything” to Republicans.

“I think he’s an honest man,” Biden responded. “I think he’s in a position, though. He had to make a deal that was pretty, you know, 15 votes. Fifteen votes where he just about sold away everything that he, that the far, far right.”

Biden accused what he called “MAGA Republicans” of bulldozing McCarthy around.

“There’s a Republican Party and there’s the MAGA Republicans, and the MAGA Republicans really have put him in a position where in order to stay speaker, he has to agree, he’s agreed to things that maybe he believes, but are just extreme,” Biden continued.

Biden’s remarks come days after he invited congressional leaders to speak on the nation’s debt and increasing the debt ceiling. McCarthy and Biden have not met since February.

While the president claimed he is open to discussing long-term solutions to the debt, the White House admitted that the debt ceiling is non-negotiable.

In the same interview, Ruhle asked Biden about his low poll numbers despite what she called leftist accomplishments.

“Why do you think you more credit for it, why do you think your polling is where it is?” the MSNBC host asked, later adding, “Sentiment in this country despite all these wins is not very good.”

Deflecting to the answer, Biden blamed the media for not covering him fairly.

“All they’ve heard is negative views for three years,” Biden claimed. “I’m not being critical of the press. You turn on the television. The only way you’re going to get a hit is if it’s something negative.”

Concluding the interview, Ruhle asked Biden about the criminal and congressional investigations surrounding his son Hunter Biden.

“Sir, there is something personal that’s affecting you,” Rule said. “Your son, while there’s no ties to you, could be charged by your Department of Justice. How would that impact your presidency?”

Biden quickly defended the embattled first son, clearing him of any wrongdoing.

“First of all, my son’s done nothing wrong,” Biden concluded. “I trust him, I have faith in him, and it impacts my presidency by making me feel proud of him.”
