A Democratic fundraising aggregator, ActBlue, booted New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo’s campaign committee from its website after a state investigation found he sexually harassed 11 women, several of whom worked for him.
ActBlue is a popular Democratic crowd-sourcing platform that allows candidates to solicit donations from a wide range of leftist activists and organizations across the country.
As of Thursday, Cuomo’s campaign and his political action committee had been removed from the platform, according to Axios.
“You have attempted to make a contribution to a fundraising page that has no active recipients,” an error message on both pages reads. “Either the page’s owner has removed all committees or organizations from the page, or we have concluded processing contributions for these committees or organizations.”
Cuomo’s reelection campaign raised more than $2.3 million during the first half of the year.
He has been planning to seek a fourth-term next year, but he will likely be impeached before the end of the year, according to state legislators.
Several other Democratic leaders, including President Joe Biden, have called on Cuomo to resign, but he has thus far refused.
One of the governor’s closest allies, New York Democratic Party chairperson Jay Jacobs, declared that Cuomo “has lost his ability to govern, both practically and morally.”
Jacobs told Spectrum News he had tried privately to persuade Cuomo to resign but “wasn’t making headway.”
Democrats in New York’s state assembly debated this week whether to launch impeachment proceedings right away or wait to see whether he resigns. At least 86 of the legislature’s 150 members said they would support initiating the impeachment process if he does not step down soon.
Cuomo has insisted he did nothing wrong and blamed “politics” for misconstruing what happened.
“Politics and bias are interwoven throughout every aspect of this situation,” he said Tuesday in a recorded video response.
