(Luis Cornelio, Headline USA) As the Biden administration grapples with persistently low approval ratings and a series of controversies, a wave of big Democratic donors swiftly poured money into efforts to salvage the foundering ship of the Biden presidency.
In a joint fundraising venture with the Democratic National Committee, the campaign disclosed a haul of $71.3 million, with half of that money deriving from major donors, as indicated by a report from the New York Times on Sunday.
The dominance of small-dollar donations typically serves as a measure of grassroots support. However, recent figures revealed that only 21% of Biden’s fundraising for the past three months, in June, originated from such sources. The Times itself acknowledged this proportion to be inferior to that of his potential rival in the upcoming 2024 presidential election, former President Donald Trump.
The timing of the donation revelation is critical, as President Joe Biden confronts dishearteningly low poll numbers that imperil his prospects for re-election.
According to a recent Fox News poll, Biden narrowly leads Trump by a meager margin. The same survey unveiled that Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis maintains a two-point lead over Biden.
Amidst these challenges and growing conflict in Israel, Biden issued a forceful condemnation of the recent Hamas terrorist attack on Israel.
“The bloody hands of the terrorist organization Hamas — a group whose stated purpose for being is to kill Jews,” Biden said. “This was an act of sheer evil.”
Despite the stern rhetoric, an ABC News poll released on Sunday disclosed that 54% of Americans disapprove of Biden’s handling of the conflict.
Further exacerbating the mounting pressure, Biden finds himself at the center of an impeachment inquiry led by House Republicans, with allegations ranging from corruption to bribery. Additionally, his son faces a federal indictment over the alleged illegal purchase of a firearm.
