Boy Scouts of America Creates ‘Affinity Space for LGBT Youth’

'I’ve had some scouts asking genuine questions, like, ‘What does it mean to be this? What does it mean to be that?’ ... '

(Jacob Bruns, Headline USA) The far-left organization Boy Scouts of America created a tent and display at its Scouts’ National Jamboree to honor LGBT children and give them a “safe space.”

The tent was reportedly decorated with a canopy of LGBTQ pride flags and multicolored lights. Those running the tent were offering rainbow bracelets, pronoun stickers, and diversity patches, the Blaze reported.

The Boy Scouts of America also offered safe spaces for women scouts and scouts of color in the tent.

According to Mike De Socio, a “queer journalist” for the Washington Post, the event had an “empathetic vibe.”

De Socio, comparing the event to its 2013 rendition, was pleased to report that the old “swagger” of the event has been replaced by attempts to be more inclusive by addressing the organization’s “internalized homophobia.”

The journalist also celebrated the financial and legal difficulties that the organization has encountered, noting that it has offered leftists a chance to seize the reins and “press for a focus on diversity, equity and inclusion.”

Boy Scout volunteer River Capell, 18, who calls himself nonbinary and pansexual, celebrated the number of Boy Scouts and other children who enjoyed time with him in the LGBT tent.

“This is my entire world,” Capell noted.

“There’s been days where there’s 2,000 kids in this tent alone. And that is just, like, absurd.”

The LGBT activist also said that he was pleased to field questions from the children about his sexual identity.

“I’ve had some scouts asking genuine questions, like, ‘What does it mean to be this? What does it mean to be that?’” Capell said.

“But it was all curiosity, and how do I help, rather than [hostility]. So it’s all been incredibly welcoming and positive.”

The last jamboree was held by the faltering organization in 2017, and featured then-President Donald Trump as a keynote speaker.
