(Mark Pellin, Headline USA) House Speaker Kevin McCarthy, R-Calif., confirmed that the GOP-led House of Representatives is moving toward impeachment proceedings against President Joe Biden, as more damning whistleblower testimony and evidence continues to emerge linking the president, his son Hunter and other Biden family members and shell companies to multiple instances of bribery and corruption.
“If you’re sitting in our position today, we would know none of this, if Republicans had not taken the majority,” McCarthy told Fox News host Sean Hannity during a Monday interview.
Explaining that House Republicans have simply followed “where the information has taken us,” McCarthy said that the information and evidence “is rising to the level of impeachment inquiry, which provides Congress the strongest power to get the rest of the knowledge and information needed.”
McCarthy directly accused Biden of using the Justice Department and other regime departments to actively protect the president and his family members from corruption charges.
“Because this president has also used something we have not seen since Richard Nixon used the weaponization of government to benefit his family and deny Congress the ability to have the oversight,” McCarthy said.
Despite the FBI agreeing that information implicating the Bidens, which was presented to their agents and former Attorney General Bill Barr, was “very credible,” McCarthy said that “The FBI kept this from the IRS individuals for them ever to see it. So not only do they claim that they were bribed, we now find information that 16 out of 17 payments from Romania were provided to the Biden shell companies while he was vice president.”
That stands in stark contrast to Biden’s repeated promises on the campaign trail, and in statements after he was allegedly elected president, assuring the American public that he had nothing to do with Hunter Biden’s suspect business dealings, McCarthy said.
“He said his family has never received a dollar from China, which we now prove is not true,” McCarthy said. “We now have some of the most credible whistleblowers. These 10-year IRS agents who have come forward said that the Biden family has been treated differently, that what Weiss has told us is different than what Garland and Weiss has told the public.”
In that light, and given everything that House probes have uncovered, McCarthy said, “I believe we will follow this all the way to the end, and this is going to rise to an impeachment inquiry, the way the Constitution tells us to do this, and we have to get the answers to these questions.”
Hannity invoked his own Nixon-era comparison to the dire straits facing Biden and his alleged crime family.
“In the words of John Dean, a malignant cancer now is surrounding the Biden presidency and those walls are closing awfully tight,” Hannity said.
