(Ken Silva, Headline USA) Ever since the FBI arrested 14 men for allegedly conspiring to kidnap Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer in 2020, information has trickled out about the U.S. government’s dubious tactics employed in its investigation—from the FBI using at least 12 informants, to an agent using the case to promote his private security business.
According to independent documentarian Christina Urso, the public information about the Whitmer kidnap case only scratches the surface of the U.S. government’s wrongdoing. Urso intends to expose this wrongdoing in her forthcoming documentary, KIDNAP and KILL: An FBI Terror Plot, a trailer for which was released Tuesday.
The roughly two-minute clip features interview footage of Brandon Caserta, who was found not guilty last year of participating in the plot, as well as Barry Croft, who was found guilty and sentenced to 235 months imprisonment in December.
“The whole goal was for the FBI to spend millions of dollars to create militia groups, record them saying offensive stuff, and then frame them in a fake conspiracy,” says Caserta.
Urso told Headline USA that the film will further show that the Whitmer plot spawned from a multistate operation to infiltrate the Midwest militia movement.
“The documentary is hoping to expose that this was much bigger [than the Whitmer sting]. It was not just this one militia group,” Urso said in an interview.
“If you go through the records, they’re talking about having targets in 15 different states, so you have 15 different [FBI] field offices involved in this, which makes me believe that there had to have been some sort of authorization coming from a higher level of the FBI to coordinate this amount of resources.”
Five defendants—Shawn Fix, Eric Molitor, Michael Null, William Null and Brian Higgins—still face state charges in the Whitmer case. Six men were charged federally with conspiring to kidnap—two were acquitted, two struck plea deals and two were found guilty—and three others were found guilty in December of state charges of providing material support for a terrorist act.
Urso, who has covered the case since its inception under the pen name Radix Verum, said she hopes the full documentary will be published by year’s end. More information about the documentary can be found here.
