(Mark Pellin, Headline USA) After years of aggressively partisan and openly biased cheerleading for Democrats and their far-leftist agendas, several legacy mainstream media regime collaborators are falling victim to economic calamity created by the political policies they’ve endorsed and promoted.
The Washington Post, NPR and CNN announced this week that they were cutting staff and budgets in the face of falling audience shares and plunging revenues.
The heavily taxpayer-funded NPR reported on Wednesday that it needs to cut at least $10 million from its budget, with tanking ad revenue from sponsors. NPR staffers were told in a memo from CEO John Lansing that he hoped to avoid layoffs, but would be implementing what he described as “close to a total hiring freeze.”
A flock of folks at the Washington Post weren’t able to avoid the axe, when it was announced Wednesday that the paper will stop production of its Sunday magazine and “eliminate a number of editorial positions associated with the product,” reported The Hill.
The staffers being fired were told the decision was “no reflection on the quality of your work,” but rather part of a broader move in line with the Post’s “global and digital transformation,” but Executive Editor Sally Buzbee acknowledged the cuts came as a result of “economic headwinds”.
Similar conditions befell CNN, which announced Wednesday that it had started the process of cutting hundreds of jobs in the midst of Bidenflation run wild and heading into the holiday season.
Chris Licht, who took over the helm at CNN in May in the face of multiple scandals and wretched ratings, described the cuts as a “gut punch,” which marked the deepest cuts to the network in years.
“It is incredibly hard to say goodbye to any one member of the CNN team, much less many,” Licht wrote in a company-wide memo that informed the job cuts were “part of a recalibrated reporting strategy” and that CNN’s paid contributors, usually highly partisan talking heads, were first in line for the chopping block.
“Bye bye, legacy media,” tweeted Dr. Jordan B. Peterson.
CNN has already jettisoned or demoted a slew of personnel once thought untouchable, including Chris Cuomo, Brian Stelter, John Harwood, Jeffrey Toobin, Jake Tapper and Don Lemon.
The cuts come as CNN ratings tumble to new lows, particularly in prime time, which saw viewership in the key 25-54 demographic collapse by nearly 70%, according to Forbes.
"CNN begins layoffs due to peddling an unsustainable business model of propaganda during the pandemic…"
Fixed your headline. It's a little more honest.
At least be honest why you're slashing jobs. Us hyper local news orgs are doing fine; maybe try ethical journalism next time pic.twitter.com/hzTqYFCg5D— 🕎 A.Marie Hamilton מרים ✡ (@wyreportermarie) November 30, 2022
