Dems Want $70B Cabinet-Level Racial ‘Reconciliation’ Dept.

(John RansomHeadline USA) The Democrats in the House have filed a resolution that would “declare war” on racism in the US, and appropriate $70 billion for the establishment of a cabinet-level Department of Reconciliation, complete with a secretary appointed by the president, according to a SCRIBD of the resolution at the National Pulse.

“Over 30 House Democrats have signed onto the bill with key co-sponsors including Congressman Ilhan Omar, Maxine Waters, Rashida Tlaib, and January 6th Committee Chairman Bennie Thompson,” reported National Pulse. “The bill has now been referred to the Committee on the Judiciary.”

Supporters of the proposal cite South Africa’s Truth and Reconciliation Commission and de-Nazification efforts last century as test cases for such a department in the United States.

“This reconciliatory effort enabled South Africa to go on record and denounce apartheid,” wrote New York Times journalist Bryan Denton in support of the proposal, “providing restorative justice for victims, coupled with an opportunity for national healing. Similarly, the United States of America must seek national healing grounded in truth from which reconciliation can flourish.”

Yet, critics said the resolution is just diversity, equity and inclusion on steroids.

Until now, the idea of the establishment of a US department for racial reconciliation has only occupied a small corner of academia in the same way that Critical Race Theory did just a short time ago, before it overwhelmed the public school system.

Rep. Al Green, D-Texas, a sponsor of the resolution, wrote to Biden when the president was elected demanding that a Department of Reconciliation be established.

“We have to stay focused and demand certain things,” Green said on the eve of Biden’s inauguration, according to the Washington Informer. “A Department of Reconciliation is something that I have already put in writing and sent to Mr. Biden.”

Last year Green, along with Sen. Elizabeth Warren, D-Mass., and others, introduced a bill that “would address land units and geographic features with racist and bigoted names,” said Warren’s Senate office.
