(Ken Silva, Headline USA) “Ukraine is good for business. You know that, right?”
That statement was one of many uttered by BlackRock recruiter Serge Varlay to an undercover reporter working for the O’Keefe Media Group—the newly formed watchdog formed by Project Veritas founder James O’Keefe.
O’Keefe released footage of Varlay speaking to his undercover reporter Tuesday, promising a follow-up tomorrow that will further expose the investment firm that is buying up assets around the world and influencing geopolitics.
Tuesday’s publication by O’Keefe was full of revealing statements from Varlay, who spoke about BlackRock’s ability to buy politicians on the cheap.
“The senators … are f***ing cheap. You got 10 grand, you can buy a senator,” he said. “You can buy your candidates. I couldu give you $500k right now, no questions asked.”
Speaking on the war in Ukraine, he said BlackRock has been profiting from the volatility in agriculture and other markets.
“Russia blows up Ukraine’s grain silos and the price of wheat is going to go mad up,” he said. “The Ukrainian economy is the wheat market. The price of bread goes up, this is fantastic if you’re trading. Volatility creates opportunity for profit.”
O’Keefe’s latest investigation comes on the heels of BlackRock taking a larger stake in Fox News in February. Around that time, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, a BlackRock crony, had a phone call with Fox co-chairman Lachlan Murdoch.
It wasn’t long after that when Fox’s most popular anchor, Tucker Carlson, who is staunchly anti-war when it comes to Ukraine, left the network.
While BlackRock’s apparent influence on U.S. foreign policy and media landscape should be having Americans marching in the streets, Varlay told the undercover reporter that “normal people don’t give a shit.” That, O’Keefe said Tuesday, should be the most upsetting aspect of his report.
“There is no question that many Americans are still asleep, who don’t want to wake up from their necessary illusions. But we hope and believe that by showing these tapes of this BlackRock gatekeeper speaking so plainly on so many topics—that not only do we wake up so many people, but we also inspire others to come forward on institutions like BlackRock,” he said.
BlackRock declined to comment to O’Keefe.
