Woke Activists Attack Doug Mastriano for Noting that Dems Led Confederacy and KKK

'The Republican Party was formed to get rid of slavery... '

(Mark Pellin, Headline USA) With recent polling showing that an overwhelming majority of Pennsylvania voters think their state is headed in the wrong direction under the leadership of Democrat Gov. Tom Wolf, the leftist state attorney general who hopes to replace him by beating Trump-backed Doug Mastriano is busy dodging the issues.

Josh Shapiro would apparently rather join a woke mob in attacking Mastriano for dressing as a Confederate soldier in an Army War College faculty picture taken nearly a decade ago.

Mastriano, who worked at the college as a historian who gave hundreds of tours of the Gettysburg battlefield, said he chose the outfit for the photo as part of the Civil War’s history.

“I think it’s important that we understand the past to have a better future, and also not to repeat the mistakes of the past,” Mastriano told One American News.

“It’s deeply offensive and proves who he is, once again,’ tweeted Shapiro, who has championed everything from abortion on demand to gender transitioning for youths.

“He’s unfit to be Governor,” Shapiro said.

Mastriano dismissed the hysterics and rhetoric as coming from Democrats who obviously didn’t know their party’s history.

“There I am just dressed up like a regular soldier,’ he said during the interview with OAN, as an image showed Mastriano dressed in the Confederate uniform.

“All the leaders of the Confederacy were Democrats, all the slave-holders … were Democrats,” he said.

“The founders of the KKK were the Democrats, those who perpetuated Jim Crow laws and segregation were Democrats,” Mastriano said.

“The Republican Party was formed to get rid of slavery,” he added.

None of which seemed to matter to the woke activists weighing in on Twitter, or to Never Trumpers who endorsed Shapiro after the photo became public.

The RINO contingent was led by establishment deep stater Michael Chertoff, the former Homeland Security chief under President George W. Bush, reported Business Insider.

Chertoff said he was “deeply troubled by Doug Mastriano’s embrace of dangerous extremism.”

A Pennsylvania voter put it in more practical perspective.

“He’s conservative and he’s pro-life, so I’d vote on that,” said Perry County resident John Varnas.
