(Molly Bruns, Headline USA) A Wisconsin school board stood firm in the face of protests, retaining a ban on the display of gay or Black Lives Matter flags in classrooms, as well as using preferred pronouns in school-related emails.
Numerous protestors attended a school board meeting, speaking on the matter in an unsuccessful attempt to change the board’s decision, Daily Wire reported.

“We live in a world where politics are highlighted, and it puts people in uncomfortable positions,” Kettle Moraine School District Superintendent Stephen Plum stated.
In a previous statement, Plum said a legal analysis had shown the district prohibited political or religious messaging, as well as the use of pronouns in classrooms and staff email.
“The prohibition is based on Kettle Moraine School District’s decade-old policy that bans ‘partisan politics, sectarian religious views, or selfish propaganda,’” CNN noted.
The Kettle Moraine school district has 10 schools, with six of them “designated as Blue Ribbon Schools of Excellence by the U.S. Department of Education.”
There are 3,570 students in the district, and the High School of Health Sciences was ranked as the top high school in the state in U.S. World & News Report’s annual ranking.
The Kettle Moraine school board voted unanimously to keep political and religious symbolism out of all school related materials; however, a petition opposing the policy has sprung up within the local community.
The online document has more than 13,000 signatures.
