(Chris Parker, Headline USA) A biological male gone transgender has been booted from his cheerleader squad after choking a female teammate.
Averie Chanel Medlock, a transgender cheerleader at Ranger College in Texas, allegedly choked another cheerleader. He is facing criminal charges for the incident, reported The Daily Wire.
Medlock was provoked after the teammate allegedly called him “a man” and stated that he should be barred from the all-female squad.
“Well guys I’m officially retired as a cheerleader as of last night at 5:30 AM. A girl on the team was being very disrespectful and told me I am a MAN with a PENIS and that [guys] should not be on the team,” Medlock said on Facebook.
Medlock claimed the attack was meant as a joke. However, other team members were anxious around Medlock and hid from him during the incident.
The incident highlights the growing tensions between LGBT activists and female athletes put at a disadvantage by biological males competing as transgendered women. According to polls, most Americans oppose biological males competing as females, regardless of how they identify themselves.
A growing number of female athletes insist that competing against biological males puts them at a disadvantage. They point to studies showing that transgendered women still retain biological advantages after their transitional treatments are complete.
Even former Olympian and transgender personality Caitlyn Jenner opposes biological males competing in female sports. He is currently running as a Republican candidate for governor in California.
Governments have been at odds with each other over the issue. South Carolina, South Dakota, Florida and other states have taken steps to bar or limit the participation of transgender athletes. However, California and the federal government (along with other state governments) have proposed legislation to support them.
Professional sports leagues seem to be embracing trans athletes. The Carolina Panthers recently hired the NFL’s first transgender cheerleader. Several NFL cheer squads have male members, but it appears as if Lindsay is the first openly transgender cheerleader.
