‘Squad’ Reps. Called Out For Spreading Hamas Misinformation

'We believe they’re wrong, we believe they’re repugnant, and we believe they’re disgraceful...'

(Headline USA“Squad” Reps. Ilhan Omar, D-Minn., and Alexandria Ocasio–Cortez, D-N.Y., were caught spreading misinformation about the IsraelGaza conflict just days after complaining about pro-Israel “misinformation” on social media.

Omar, for example, shared a post on Twitter that said, “CHILD GENOCIDE IN PALESTINE” and “614 Palestinian children murdered by Israeli [IDF] forces.”

However, a community note revealed the picture was from a 2013 sarin gas attack in Ghouta, Syria, and not from Israel’s response to Hamas’s terrorist attack.

Omar has since unposted the photo.

Just days before, Omar had shared a post from Ocasio–Cortez urging people to check whether claims about Hamas’s violence in Israel was misinformation.

“The level of misinformation in all directions at this moment is incredibly high, especially on this platform,” Ocasio–Cortez claimed. “If you see a claim, photo, or video that triggers a strong emotional reaction, take a moment to pause and check for veracity/confirmation from multiple sources.”

Omar, Ocasio–Cortez, and the rest of the “Squad” have come under fire over the past week for their response to Hamas’s terrorist attack in Israel. Even the White House called out the leftists’ refusal to condemn Hamas directly.

“I’ve seen some of those statements this weekend, and we’re going to continue to be very clear. We believe they’re wrong, we believe they’re repugnant, and we believe they’re disgraceful,” White House press secretary Karine Jean–Pierre said last week, without naming names.

“Our condemnation belongs squarely with terrorists who have brutally murdered, raped, kidnapped hundreds, hundreds of Israelis,” she added. “There can be no equivocation about that. There are not two sides here. There are not two sides.”

The “Squad,” on the other hand, has demanded that the U.S. use its influence to “end the violence” in Gaza and Israel seeks to destroy Hamas.
