(Molly Bruns, Headline USA) Nebraska state Democrat Sen. Megan Hunt, a self-professed atheist and “bi-queen,” announced in a tweet that gun ownership is not a God-given right, but is instead a right given by America’s “slave-owning, misogynistic” founders, The Blaze reported.
“Owning a gun isn’t a ‘God-given right.’ It’s a slave-owning, misogynistic founding father-given right,” she wrote.
“I’m not against 2a, but be real—the Constitution was written by people!”
Hunt closed by saying she was filibustering a bill that would permit concealed carry without training or a permit.

I’m not against 2a, but be real – the Constitution was written by people!
Today I’m filibustering a bill that would allow concealed carry without training or a permit. #NELeg

It is unclear if Hunt believes the 2nd Amendment was truly divinely inspired only for the sake of gun ownership, or if she simply does not believe people have the right to defend themselves and their property.
Social media users chimed in, criticizing her take:
Guns are a creation of men who choose to protect their property and loved ones against aggressors seeking to do harm. Of course it’s God-given. The founders only acknowledged this self-evident truth.

But I’m not against the Second Amendment.
But I am against the Second Amendment.”

Nah, you’re way wrong. The Founders nor the Constitution “gave” us rights. The rights preexist governments, and governments can only infring on those rights. Murder is already illegal; why do you favor restricting the ability of people to carry defensive tools, especially women?

Hunt has served the state of Nebraska since 2019.
In her Twitter bio, she refers to herself as “bi queen,” says she wants to “abolish ICE” and has listed her pronouns.
