(Headline USA) The Secret Service cannot find three years’ worth of travel information for Hunter Biden, according to the Republican senators investigating the Bidens’ foreign business deals.
The agency told Sens. Chuck Grassley, R-Iowa, and Ron Johnson, R-Wisc., this month that they cannot produce communications related to Hunter Biden’s travels during 2010, 2011, or 2013, which is when President Joe Biden was vice president.
Grassley and Johnson had asked the Secret Service for un-redacted records tied to Hunter Biden’s travels between January 2009 and January 2017. But three years’ worth of documents are missing from the agency’s reports entirely.
Other sections are “inappropriately” redacted, they said, including reports from 2014 when Hunter Biden traveled to Kazakhstan to strike a business deal.
“These inappropriate redactions impede our offices’ ability to understand the full scope of the interactions between Hunter Biden, his associates, and the USSS,” Johnson and Grassley wrote to the agency last month. “The USSS hid names and other information contained in email conversations regarding Hunter Biden without any proper legal justification.”
James Murray, the director of the U.S. Secret Service, said documents are missing because the agency was unable to find them.
“In consultation with the Department of Homeland Security, on June 11, 2021, the Secret Service provided documents responsive to your request in accordance with law, longstanding Executive Branch practice, and Department-wide standards,” Murray wrote to Grassley and Johnson.
“In October 2020, the Secret Service worked extensively with your committees, and agreed to search parameters provided by your offices to identify communications regarding Mr. Biden’s travel,” he continued. “These search parameters did not yield communications for the years 2010, 2011, or 2013.”
The Republican senators argued this revelation “raises questions,” especially since other travel logs during those years reveal Hunter Biden made trips “to China and other destinations around the world, including Russia, Italy, Spain, and Mexico.”
