(Jacob Bruns, Headline USA) As a part of their experiments on the human race, a team of scientists in Canada and the United States have recreated the 1918 Spanish Flu virus in a lab in order to conduct studies, journalist Steven Salzberg reported in a Forbes column.
The 1918 pandemic–the deadliest in the world since the Black Death swept through Europe in the Middle Ages–killed over 50 million people, infecting approximately one third of the entire globe’s population.
The scientists have isolated the virus by digging up human remains in Alaska and Siberia. With the aid of modern medical genetic technology, the virus can be recreated from scratch.
Such models of research are called “gain of function,” and aim to help humans anticipate and slow the spread of viruses.
Using the deadly flu, scientists have infected animals in order to see how sick they get, reasoning that such experimentation will help them create more effictive vaccines, though they gave no justification for using this particular strand of the influenza, which cannot reappear naturally–only through human labs.
“The 1918 flu disappeared long ago, and there’s no way it could possibly re-appear naturally,” Salzberg wrote.
“There’s only one way that the 1918 flu becomes a threat to human health again: through a lab leak. Re-creating the virus in a lab makes that possible.”
The decision to mess with the Spanish Flu virus is particularly odd in light of the origins of the coronavirus in a Wuhan lab operated indirectly by Dr. Anthony ‘the Science’ Fauci via his National Institutes for Health. Fauci has come under repeated and heavy criticism for his ties to gain-of-function research and its links to COVID.
With each passing revelation it seems increasingly likely that Fauci and his comrades knew about COVID’s Wuhan Institute for Virology origins and sought to suppress such speculation as early as February of 2020.
