San Francisco Mayor Admits to Failing Children After School Board Recall

'We failed our children...'

(Molly Bruns, Headline USA) London Breed, Mayor of San Francisco, responded to the loss of three school board members in a recall election this week, The Daily Wire reported.

In an interview on “Meet The Press,” Breed opened up about the reasoning behind the recall campaign: parents’ frustration with the board for prioritizing progressive politics over the need to get students back into classrooms.

“It was really about the frustration of the Board of Education doing their fundamental job, and that is to make sure that our children are getting educated, that they get back into the classroom, and that did not occur,” Breed said. “They were focusing on other things that were clearly a distraction.”

“Not to say that those other things around renaming schools and conversations around changes to our school district weren’t important, but what was most important was the fact that our kids were not in the classroom.”

Breed went on to praise her own COVID response, explaining that the city put in place some of the “most conservative policies to ensure the safety of all San Franciscans,” but went on to admit their failures:

“We failed our children, parents were upset, the city as a whole was upset, and the decision to recall school board members was a result of that,” Breed said.

When asked what she was looking for in a replacement, Breed stated she is looking for someone who was not politically-focused and will focus on the priorities of the school district.

One of the recently recalled board members, Gabriela Lopez, tweeted that “white supremacists” were the ones behind this campaign to defend children:
