(Headline USA) Democrat presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. shrugged off allegations of corruption within the Biden family on Saturday.
“I don’t have a comment on that,” he told Fox News.
Kennedy spoke at the FreedomFest conference in Memphis, Tenn., and was asked about the federal charges against Hunter Biden and whistleblower reports that accused President Joe Biden of accepting bribes from Ukrainian and Chinese officials—including while he was vice president.
But Kennedy—the scion of one of the Democrats’ greatest modern political dynasties, who is currently challenging Joe Biden for the party’s presidential nomination—refused to opine.
“What I’ve tried to do in this campaign is to focus on issues and focus on the values and not focus on ad hominem attacks on people,” he said.
When pressed on whether he believes the corruption allegations are something that affect the country, Kennedy acknowledged that they are a concern but again refused to explain why.
“I think on every side it’s something that people should be concerned about, but it’s not something that I’m making a spear tip to my campaign,” Kennedy responded.
Kennedy has not weighed in on the plea deal struck between the Justice Department and Hunter Biden either—a deal that Republicans have blasted as further evidence of DOJ corruption.
At least two whistleblowers have alleged that U.S. Attorney David Weiss wanted to bring severer charges against Hunter Biden but was prevented from doing so. The New York Times confirmed part of this allegation in a report earlier this month.
“[I]n mid-2022, Mr. Weiss reached out to the top federal prosecutor in Washington, Matthew Graves, to ask his office to pursue charges and was rebuffed, according to Mr. Shapley’s testimony,” the Times said.
“A similar request to prosecutors in the Central District of California, which includes Los Angeles, was also rejected, Mr. Shapley testified,” it continued. “A second former I.R.S. official, who has not been identified, told House Republicans the same story. That episode was confirmed independently to the New York Times by a person with knowledge of the situation.”
