(John Ransom, Headline USA) District Judge Amy Totenberg okayed a hearing which will decide if Republican Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (Ga.) can be disqualified from the ballot over concerns about the protests on Jan. 6.
“This case involves a whirlpool of colliding constitutional interests of public import,” Totenberg of the Northern District of Georgia, an Obama appointee, wrote in the ruling, according to CNN.
“Upon a thorough analysis of each of the claims asserted in this case, the Court concludes that [Greene] has not carried her burden of persuasion” to stop the hearing, Totenberg added.
Progressive activists are arguing that Greene tried to subvert the Constitution, and was engaged in “insurrection,” because of her support of the Jan. 6 protest, and her attempts to secure the legal rights of people charged with misdemeanors over the riot.
You may not like MTG but this is ridiculous. Insurrection my butt.

Leftists argue that the 14th Amendment prohibits Greene from appearing on a federal ballot, declaring her an “insurrectionist.”
Totenberg said that Greene’s arguments failed to convince her that Greene would succeed on the merits of her legal claim to stay on the ballot, according to Reuters.
The 73-page ruling comes with significant implications because other Republican candidates are being challenged on the same basis.
A previous attempt to keep Rep. Madison Cawthorn, R-N.C., off the ballot was shot down by Trump-appointed Judge Richard Myers, said CNN.
The reelections of Republican Arizona Reps. Paul Gosar and Andy Biggs are also being challenged using the “insurrection” clause of the Constitution and the Greene hearings are likely to impact those cases as well.
Greene is a Republican that liberals love to hate.
She is one of the most outspoken Republican representatives, recently calling those who supported Ketanji Brown Jackson for the Supreme Court, pedophiles, because of Jackson’s lightened sentences in child porn cases.
Green has also been subject to censorship, as when Twitter shut down her account permanently in January 2022, with the social media company saying she had spread “disinformation” about COVID.
