(Headline USA) Even some in the mainstream media have pointed out the curious timing of the indictments of former President Donald Trump, with Axios noting that each one has helped drown out revelations about Hunter Biden and his shady foreign business deals.
Special counsel Jack Smith’s latest indictment of Trump for his role in questioning the results of the 2020 election, for example, followed a bombshell testimony from former Hunter Biden business associate Devon Archer, who told members of Congress that President Joe Biden was not just aware but involved in some of Hunter’s deals.
“Former President Trump’s bombshell, four-count indictment over his attempt to overturn the 2020 election monopolized media and political attention Tuesday evening— overshadowing a string of not-so-great stories for President Biden,” Axios wrote.
Republicans have argued that the timing of Trump’s indictments was intentional. The first indictment, for example, which was filed on June 8 and alleges Trump mishandled classified information, came out just one day before the FBI released documents to Congress alleging that Joe Biden accepted a $10 million bribe from Burisma while he was vice president.
Smith then tacked on additional charges to the Mar-a-Lago indictment on July 27, just one day after Judge Maryellen Noreika smacked down the sweetheart plea deal brokered between the Justice Department and Hunter Biden after she discovered Hunter Biden is still under federal investigation for failing to properly register as a foreign agent.
Trump himself predicted Smith’s latest indictment following Devon Archer’s closed-door congressional hearing.
“Wow! ‘Crooked Joe Biden was on dozen’s [syc] of calls with Hunter’s Business Associated. He lied, said he didn’t know anything about his son’s business. Demanded the Ukrainian prosecutor be fired, immediately.’ … This is really bad news for Biden, which means I will probably be indicted again soon in order to kill the news cycle!!!” he wrote on Truth Social on Monday.
