A conservative group will hold a “Let’s Go Brandon” festival on Saturday to protest the Biden administration and promote patriotism.
The Michigan Conservative Coalition said the Let’s Go Brandon Fall Festival will be a chance for conservatives to “bring American flags, handmade signs (always in good taste), or just attend to make their voice heard.”
“Polling shows the vast majority of Americans understand that their country is going in the wrong direction,” Rosanne Ponkowski, president of the Michigan Conservative Coalition, said in a statement to MLive. “The Let’s Go Brandon phrase has become a popular way to politely communicate that Americans are fed up with Washington, D.C.”
The event, which is scheduled for Nov. 20 from 1-4pm, will be headlined by former IndyCar driver “Ricky Bobby.”
The phrase “Let’s go, Brandon” went viral after a reporter at a NASCAR event misinterpreted the crowd’s “F*** Joe Biden” chant. Since then, the phrase has been the subject of several viral songs and has even made its way into Congress.
Former president Donald Trump quipped that “Let’s go, Brandon” was even better in its original form.
“I still like the first phrase better somehow. It’s more accurate,” he said at a recent rally.
Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis has also used “Let’s go, Brandon” to troll Biden. He once referred to the Biden administration as the “Brandon administration,” and just this week he signed several bills banning Biden’s COVID-19 vaccine mandates in Brandon, Florida.
When asked whether it was appropriate to use the phrase since it is a euphemism for “F*** Joe Biden,” DeSantis reminded the media that they spent four years trashing Trump and his supporters.
“Let me ask you how he’s treated us,” DeSantis replied. “Look, I think it’s a joke. But honestly one of the reasons that has taken off is because a lot of your folks in the national media, they get very sensitive to it.”
