(Headline USA) In their efforts to shut down the Canadian Freedom Convoy, leftist media outlets in Canada and the U.S. have begun disparaging the “freedom” itself.
CBC Radio published an article describing the word “freedom” as a far-right, anti-government term.
“For many, freedom is a malleable term — one that’s open to interpretation,” the article claimed.

The article went on to quote Evan Balgord, executive director fo the Canadia Anti-Hate Network, who claimed the Freedom Convoy has rendered the term “meaningless.”
“When they’re yelling they care so much about their freedom, they’re taking freedoms away from other people who don’t have the same kind of agency and choice that they do,” Balgord told the outlet.
Freedom Convoy protesters are demanding an end to all COVID-19 restrictions and mandates in Canada. But CBC claimed the group is “really asking for is a shift in government policy that could potentially have a negative impact on others.”
“While some in the U.S. may see mask mandates as a violation of individual rights, for example, citizens in many other countries wouldn’t consider such rules to be an intrusion,” CBC continued. “In those places — and in Canada — it’s likely there’s a general consensus that wearing masks is for the benefit of society’s most vulnerable.”
CNN also smeared the Freedom Convoy as a “far right” demonstration abusing the word “freedom.”
“This has devolved from vaccine mandate concerns to just anger, and concerns about sort of too many government restrictions. They want their freedom back, whatever that means,” said CNN’s senior national correspondent Miguel Marquez.
