(Headline USA) Actor Kirk Cameron blasted the more than 50 public libraries that rejected his attempts to schedule a reading of his new faith-based children’s book, pointing out that many of them have hosted sexualized drag queen story hour events in the past.
Cameron told Fox News that a library in Alameda County, California, wouldn’t let him schedule an event to read aloud his new book, As You Grow, but hosted a “gender name-change clinic” later that week.
“I’m thinking, ‘Wow, if we’re so committed to diversity, why am I being excluded? Why can’t I use your facility to read my book? You’re a library,’” he said.
Another library in Providence, Rhode Island, also rejected his offer because they are a “very queer-friendly library; our messaging does not align.”
He encouraged parents to contact their local libraries and see if they’ll host a reading of As You Grow, and if the library says no, “they’re likely breaking the law and violating the Constitution,” Cameron added.
“We’ll give [parents] free books and all that they need to turn that denial into a revival in their community,” he said.
The actor added that he hopes his example inspires other Christian conservatives to stand up against the secularization of society and fight back when they’re “told ‘no’ in the public square.”
“We go home with our tail between our legs, crying in our Chick-fil-A soup, waiting for the rapture, rather than getting on the offense and saying, ‘Let’s invest in our children and teach them the values we want them to learn,’” he said.
Cameron’s new book follows the growth of a small tree and teaches “biblical wisdom through the seasons of life to children and the value of growing the fruit of the spirit, like love, joy, kindness, patience, gentleness, self-control,” he said.
