(Mark Pellin, Headline USA) The Biden administration did itself no favors in calming concerns that the relentless and dire warnings coming from the White House about an imminent Russian invasion of Ukraine are largely about distracting attention from a long list of floundering domestic policies and plummeting poll numbers.
Vice President Kamala Harris on Thursday was tasked with attending the Munich Security Council to assure allies that Team Biden has a handle on what the White House insists is a dire threat to global security.
That would be the same Cupcake Kamala who, when put in charge of stopping the flood of illegal immigration swamping the southern border with drug trafficking and human smuggling, fled to a safe haven and avoided sections of the border where the crisis is most acute.
The optics, not to mention the results, were so patently bad that even members of her own party were left shaking their heads.
Rep. Henry Cuellar, D-Texas, called the visit a “politically safe trip.”
“The administration is making Democrats look weak,” said Cuellar at the time. “I’ve heard, from Democrats and Republicans in my area, what the heck is going on with this administration?”
The appointment of Harris as the key negotiator to ease tensions in Europe surely has people wondering the same. An answer could be quick in the making.
Harris is scheduled to meet Friday with NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg and hold a multilateral meeting with the leaders of the Baltic states of Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia on the margins of the Munich conference, reported the Associated Press.
On Saturday, Harris is expected to deliver a keynote speech on the administration’s efforts to stop Russian aggression, which skeptics contend so far has amounted to Vladimir Putin announcing he is withdrawing troops from the region after the completion of training exercises.
Harris, said White House chief obfuscater Jen Psaki, would “convey to the rest of the world again our ironclad commitment to our NATO allies, our commitment to defending the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Ukraine, and our commitment to putting in place severe economic consequences should Russia invade.”
If Harris’s second major assignment to fix a problem produces the same results as her first major assignment, problems could escalate quickly for the Biden administration.
The Drug Enforcement Agency’s Phoenix division recently seized 615 pounds of cocaine being smuggled into the country with a cucumber shipment.
“Massive amounts of drugs like the one found in the cucumber shipment are typically found crossing the U.S.-Mexico border,” reported the Daily Wire.
