Kamala Leaves SUV Crash in Secret Service Shambles

(Joshua Paladino, Headline USA) Vice President Kamala Harris has had more than her share of gaffes and blunders, but the latest wreck she was involved with doesn’t, for once, seem to be of her own making.

The Secret Service initially blamed a minor car crash that involved Harris on a “mechanical failure,” but a later report said an agent drove into a curb and caused a tire to burst.

The vehicle transporting Harris did not hit any other vehicle, and nothing seems to have caused the crash except a Secret Service agent’s error, the Washington Examiner reported. After the crash, the Secret Service transferred Harris to another vehicle and took her to the White House.

Video shows Secret Service agents waiting for the motorcade to continue, but no one captured the crash itself.

Secret Service spokesman Anthony Guglielmi summarized the incident.

“During a protective movement Monday, a vehicle in a motorcade had a minor overcorrection and struck a curb,” he told the Washington Post. “The protectee was transferred to a secondary vehicle, and the motorcade continued to its destination. There were no injuries to anyone.”

The vice president’s spokeswoman, Kirsten Allen, said the Secret Service handled the accident well.

“The Vice President sustained no injuries and appreciates the quick response by her USSS detail to get her to the White House safely,” she said.

Service Director Kim Cheatle, who was not on the scene, said the initial report of a mechanical failure caused her some concern, but the subsequent report settled the matter.

The Secret Service did not comment on the driver’s error or whether he or she will be relieved from his or her post.
