Iowa Paper: GOP Ad Saying ‘Before It’s Too Late’ Is RACIST

'My question for the campaign is: Before it's too late for/about what?'

(Jacob Bruns, Headline USA) A GOP congresswoman in Iowa has been accused of racism by a local newspaper for saying in a campaign advertisement that she wanted to help save America “before it’s too late,” the Washington Free Beacon reported.

The advertisement for Rep. Ashley Hinson, R-Iowa, attacks President Joe Biden and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi for failing Iowa by causing inflation, open border policies, an influx of drugs and a general attack on long-held American values.

“It’s time to change direction and save America before it’s too late,” Hinson concludes in the advertisement.

As a result, a reporter for the Gazette, a newspaper out of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, was sure to play the race card immediately, sending an email to put Hinson’s campaign on notice about its inadvertent racism.

According to the accusatory email, Hinson was echoing the words of 1980s Chicago mayoral candidate Bernard Epton.

“The new ad ends with the words ‘Before it’s too late,’ which was the same tagline used in the Chicago mayoral campaign of Bernard Epton 40 years ago that was widely viewed as racist,” wrote the Gazette.

“My question for the campaign is: Before it’s too late for/about what?” the reporter asked, despite the fact that the advertisement quite clearly delineates America’s problems under the Biden–Pelosi regime.

The reporter also suggested that the generic political phrase is hearkening back to an obscure local election from 40 years ago in order to be secretly racist.

“And was the campaign aware of the history behind the tagline and its connection to the racially divisive 1983 Chicago mayoral campaign? If so, why the choice to use the tagline in the ad?”

Of course, it is not at all clear that Epton was actually a racist of any kind. His campaign was premised on ending corruption in Washington, D.C., and in the local Chicago government.

In addition, if saying “before it’s too late” constitutes racism, then both Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris must be indicted on the same charge.
