(Headline USA) A GOP senator introduced a bill this week, called the FAUCI Act, to require federal bureaucrats’ financial records to be made public after he clashed with Dr. Anthony Fauci during a congressional hearing.
Sen. Roger Marshall, R-Kan., asked Fauci during a congressional hearing earlier this week whether he’d be willing to release his financial records. Fauci claimed his financial disclosures are already “public knowledge,” and was later caught on a hot mic calling Marshall a “moron.”
Marshall explained afterwards that his office had been unable to find Fauci’s disclosures, and said that that in and of itself is a problem. All federal bureaucrats should have to make their financial information easily accessible, he said.
The Financial Accountability for Uniquely Compensated Individuals Act, dubbed the FAUCI Act, would do that, he said, by mandating that the Office of Government ethics present the financial records for bureaucrats on its website.
“Dr. Fauci has lost his reputation,” Marshall said. “He’s lied to Congress again. [He’s] the highest paid federal employee in the government, over $400,000 a year.
“But even more than that, he oversees $5 billion of grants, including significant amounts to Wuhan, China, via EcoHealth,” Marshall said. “Don’t you think you’d like to know if he’s getting any type of funds from Wuhan, China, or is it from the Chinese government?”
When asked about why Fauci called him a “moron,” Marshall said that he understood Fauci had a “frustrating day,” since a “bombshell report” was released that same day revealing that “he in fact did award U.S. tax dollars for gain-of-function research at the Wuhan Institute of Virology and being called out about his personal financial disclosure during the COVID pandemic NOT being publicly available must be very frustrating.”
