GOP Leaders Suggest Dems Considering Party Change as Biden Sinks

'They are letting that wing of, the socialist wing of the party, dictate their policy, dictate the intimidation... '

Calling the Democrat party a “socialist” party, House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy, R-Calif., speculated that some Democrats besides Joe Manchin are thinking about switching to Republican out of a sense of self-preservation, according to an interview with Brian Kilmeade on Fox.

Last week, Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, R-Ky.,  suggested during the rocky negotiations between Biden’s White House and Manchin regarding Biden’s socialist Build Back Better agenda that it would be a great idea for Manchin to join the Republicans.

“It would not surprise you to know that I’ve suggested for years it would be a great idea, representing a deep-red state like West Virginia, for him to come over to our side,” McConnell said about Manchin, according to the Hill.

McCarthy said he thought other Democrats were also thinking about moving to the Republican side.

“Why?” asked McCarthy to Kilmeade. “Not because they changed, but the party has changed.”

“The Democrat Party is no longer the Democrat Party of old,” added McCarthy “This is a socialist Democrat Party. Bernie Sanders says it, AOC and others. And that is out of step with the mainstream of America.”

McCarthy blasted the Democrats for allowing the socialist wing of the party to dictate the legislation.

“That is their problem,” McCarthy concluded. “They are letting that wing of, the socialist wing of the party, dictate their policy, dictate the intimidation.”

According to CNN, the “floodgates” of retirements from the Democrat party have burst open this week, after three prominent Democrats in the House decided not to run for reelection in the wake of the defeat of the Biden agenda as Manchin indicated he wouldn’t support Build Back Better.

“All together, there are now 22 Democrats retiring or running for other offices this election cycle as opposed to just 11 Republicans doing the same,” said CNN.

The result could be adding up to a historic landslide for Republicans in 2023, as the Biden administration reels from one crisis to the next.

“’This is an indictment of the senior leadership in the White House,” one anonymous House Democrat said in a lengthy rant over the phone to the Hill. “The worst part is nobody will be held accountable for this.

“They don’t understand the American people want results; they don’t want drama and rhetoric,’  ‘Everyone has been left high and dry,” he said. “I can see everyone [vulnerable Democrats] fleeing for the hills at this point, abandoning Biden and running their own races.”
