DeSantis: Fla. Now Has 300K More Registered Republicans than Dems

(Jacob Bruns, Headline USA) According to a recent announcement from Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, the state of Florida now has 300,000 more registered Republicans than it does Democrats.

At a rally, DeSantis reassured the crowd that people moving to Florida to escape woke madness have not brought the politics of their leftist states with them, according to Breitbart.

“A lot of my friends and supporters and maybe even some of you would say, ‘Ok, your Florida is doing better than the states. But are the people leaving these leftist jurisdictions going to come to Florida and then vote the same way like people vote in those jurisdictions?’” he said.

“Here’s what I can tell you. When I was standing here four years ago, preparing for the governor’s election, this state had almost 300,000 more registered Democrats than Republicans,” DeSantis said.

“And we had never in the history of Florida — prior to me being elected governor — had more registered Republicans and Democrats.”

He also noted that this is the first time in the history of the state when there will be more registered Republicans than Democrats.

“And even though we’ve never had an election in Florida history [where] we’ve had more Republicans than Democrats, this November, we will now have over 300,000 more Republicans than Democrats,” he announced to applause.

Many of the gains have come in surprising areas, like Miami-Dade County and Palm Beach.

In DeSantis’ view, the American people simply want competent leadership instead of radical craziness.

“The bottom line is that people have responded to good leadership. They responded, and they appreciate being in Florida and they understand what it’s been like in some of these other states.”

“That could have gone the other way,” he said, adding that it would have resulted in “a much different future.”

Florida Republican Party vice chairman Christian Ziegler also noted that out of over a million new Florida voters added since 2018, a mere 17,197 of them registered as Democrats–a striking failure.

“The biggest number in Florida Politics that no one is talking about: 17,197 While Florida has added 1,037,685 net new voters since @RonDeSantisFL 2018 Victory, the Democrat Party (@FlaDems) only managed to convince 17,197 of them to register as a Democrat,” she wrote.
