(Jacob Bruns, Headline USA) As their popularity slips away in the approach of the upcoming midterms, desperate Democrats have turned from their traditional defund the police rhetoric to dumping millions of dollars into police departments.
Republicans across the nation have campaigned this year on a promise to enforce laws, unlike their leftist opponents who wish to neglect the law.
Seeing the potential bloodbath in the midterms, House Democrats helped Republicans pass a series of four policing bills, designed to provide grants for small local police departments, Axios reported.
The grants will allegedly aid in the recruitment and training of officers, while funding the purchase of new law enforcement technology. Democrats happily noted that they may have tricked voters once more.
“It’s just one more piece of evidence that all those attacks are insane,” said Rep. Dan Kildee, D-Mich., referring to Right-wing attacks on the Left for encouraging the defunding of law enforcement.
Kildee also turned the conversation to one of the left’s favorite topics: so-called ‘abortion rights’.
“They’re in a hunt to talk about anything except women’s reproductive rights. I mean, they’ll talk about the weather before they talk about that,” Kildee added.
He was not alone in admitting to simply wanting to retain his seat, however. Rep. Cheri Bustos, D-Ill., claimed that Democrats, once they are in power, actually support law enforcement.
“I think it’s helpful to [swing seat Democrats], and I think they have to talk about it every place they go,” she said while condemning “members of our party who vilify police officers as a whole.”
The sudden embrace of law and order is one more example of Democrats trying to outrun their history of defund the police rhetoric.
From President Joe Biden to failed Georgia political candidate Stacey Abrams to irrelevant congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Democrats have spent the better part of the past decade complaining about police brutality and calling for defunding in the name of systemic racism.
