Dems Seek Energy Independence Through Govt Coercion

'Ensure that the communities that have been harmed the most by climate change and fossil fuel pollution are the first to benefit... '

(Tony Sifert, Headline USA) Senate Democrats have announced a 500-day “energy independence” plan that would somehow avoid an increased dependence on fossil fuels, according to a report at The Hill.

A meeting of the Senate’s Democrat-dominated Climate Change Task Force resulted in the recommendation of the pet projects of the quadruple-vaxxed Sen. Ed Markey, D-Mass., which include the creation of a Civilian Climate Corps and the passage of the Severing Putin’s Immense Gains from Oil Transfers Act (SPIGOT), which would permanently eliminate the importation of Russian crude oil to the United States.

In pitching his plan, Markey offered a unique definition of “independence” that had more to do with anti- middle-class progressive priorities than with either America’s founding documents or its self-understanding.

“[Real energy independence is] about freedom from a volatile globalized oil commodity, from high gas prices and from pollution, dirty air and dirty water — especially within Black, Brown and Indigenous communities, which bear the heaviest burden of pollution,” Markey said.

In other words, Democrat “climate hawks” want to create a diversity-and-inclusion oriented jobs program that will further increase gas prices and make American citizens increasingly dependent on the federal government.

According to The Climate Center, the CCC would “put 1.5 million people to work over five years” and “ensure that the communities that have been harmed the most by climate change and fossil fuel pollution are the first to benefit.”

A Civilian Climate Corps was included in President Biden’s infamous Build Back Better bill, which was killed by Sen. Joe Manchin, D-W.Va., in February.

On March 8, President Biden issued an executive order that temporarily banned “the import[ation] of Russian oil, liquefied natural gas, and coal to the United States.”

“The United States is targeting the main artery of Russia’s economy,” Biden said in a press conference. “That means Russian oil will no longer be acceptable at U.S. ports, and the American people will deal another powerful blow to Putin’s war machine.”
