DC’s Woke Catholic Church Ignores Pope, Gives Communion to Pelosi

'Scandal is an action that would lead others into error or into sin... '

(Molly Bruns, Headline USA) House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, who was recently denied communion by Archbishop Salvatore Cordileone, received communion at a parish in Washington D.C., Red State reported.

Cordileone denied Pelosi communion for her outspoken opinions and actions to promote abortion. According to Cordilenone, her support of abortion is a “scandal,” and her actions put her in a state of mortal sin.

“Scandal is an action that would lead others into error or into sin,” Cordileone said.

“So the scandal here is that someone who is strongly advocating for something as evil as abortion and taking Communion creates confusion among people. And they can begin to think that it is acceptable for a Catholic to believe this.”

Pelosi, however, took communion anyway.

While it is not immediately obvious which priest gave her communion, Holy Trinity Church in Georgetown—the parish where she attended mass—is notorious for wokeism.

The parish website advertises a “Pride Mass,” and highlights gay parishioners, including a man who claims to be married to another man, despite the strict teachings of the Catholic Church that marriage is only between a man and a woman.

The Church’s pastor, Rev. Kevin Gillespie, S.J., has previously stated that he would not deny communion to President Joe Biden, who also supports and advocates for abortion. The Archbishop of Washington, Wilton Gregory, has made similar statements.

The Archdiocese of Washington D.C. has been dodging questions and ignoring press inquiries.

Thankfully, renowned religious scholar and co-host of “The View,” Whoopi Goldberg was here to lend her poor understanding of the situation:

“The archbishop of San Francisco is calling for speaker Nancy Pelosi to be denied receiving Communion because of her pro-choice stance… this is not your job, dude,” she said, not understanding that it definitely is his job. “That is not up to you to make that decision.”

She went on to ask how Pope Francis felt about Pelosi’s ban. While he did not comment on her situation directly, the Pope did make a statement regarding abortion:

“Sadly, there has been a change in the common mentality, and we are more led to think that life is a good at our complete disposal, that we can choose to give birth or to take a life as we please, as if it were the exclusive consequence of individual choice,” he said.
