Chapelle Attacker Is LGBT, Claims He Was Triggered by Jokes

'It’s a struggle and I wanted Dave Chappelle to know it’s not a joke... '

(Molly Bruns, Headline USA) The man who attacked comedian Dave Chappelle at his onstage performance earlier this month admitted he attacked Chappelle because he was “triggered” by the comedian’s jokes, Townhall reported.

The man, Isaiah Lee, was upset that Chappelle made jokes at the expense of the gay community.

“I identify as bisexual … and I wanted him to know what he said was triggering,” Lee said, adding that Chappelle should be more “sensitive.”

“I wanted him to know that next time, he should consider first running his material by people it could affect,” he said.

“I’m also a single dad and my son is 5,” he continued, noting he was once homeless. “It’s a struggle and I wanted Dave Chappelle to know it’s not a joke.”

Lee said he broke after Chappelle made a joke about pedophilia, bringing back memories of being molested as a teenager.

The attack, which took place at the Hollywood Bowl during the “Netflix is a Joke” comedy festival, was caught on camera.

He was also carrying a handgun replica with a retractable knife, which he claimed to be carrying for safety because he is a “minor celebrity,” known for his rap music.

Lee is facing four misdemeanor counts, including battery and possessing a deadly weapon with intent to assault.

“They spat on me and twisted me as if on purpose,” he said, referring to the security guards who left him with two black eyes and a broken arm.

Chappelle was attacked for making a joke that his attacker was a “trans man” immediately after the assault.
